AmarB
I understand it was changed over around October/November 2003. My car has a build of Nov 03, I'm hoping it makes mine a Euro four as I hear these had more reliable turbos? Any way I can find out which engine I have? momo
Not sure.. I always thought the Euro4 was an emissions regulation which manufacturers had to build their engines towards. i.e: if Euro4 was due to come in sometime in 2004 then most manufacturers will build engines to meet the specifications of Euro4 in 2002-2003.. I think this might be a question for BMW themselves tbh..
Rob-
Look under the inlet manifold, if it has the swirl flap actuator it's euro4. The majority of the M47n engines were euro4 AFAIK. If you have a 136bhp M47 engine then it's euro3, and yes the turbos themselves were more robust. Edited May 3, 2011 by ROB1986
