Can i get a new locking wheel nut key?

Recommended Posts

The e36 i bought doesn't have a locking wheel nut key, meaning i can't remove the wheels. This is obviously a problem. What are my options?

Oh, and i can't just 'take it to bmw and ask' as it has no seats anymore :P

If i phoned bmw, would they be able to issue a replacement key? If so, any ideas of the cost? I may phone up when i get a chance.

You could get a socket just smaller than the wheel nut, hammer it on and then undo it that way?

Don't fancy ruining one of my new sockets!

Yep ring your local dealer they may even have one in stock.

Are they not all different then?

Assuming they are the same as E36 they only made about 10 different types of locking nut, so its possible they might have one in stock for your model. If not they should be able to figure it out from the chassis number or something.

There are only about 5 different types so if the dealer doesn't have them, you can probably get all types off ebay and just use the one that works!
