Installing Bmw Diagnostic Software

Recommended Posts

Aha! I bought the same thing! :P

If you got the 6.5Mb installation instruction .pdf that came with it like I did, go back to page 4/5 and ensure you've set the com port correctly. That was my problem 1st time around.

OK,

I recently did this and had a few problems. What is the error code that your getting?

Also, check under the bonnet to see if you need the 20-Pin round connector too, that was my issue. I needed the blue one to plug into the USB port on the laptop, and I needed the plue ODB port to plug into the black 20-Pin connector. This then resollved my issue.

However, it would help id I knew what fault code that INPA gives you.

i have the same acble, from the same seller with no issue at all

as INPA does not need bmw diaghead, or VM ware, this most likely points to a USB - Cable connection issue, a few pointers

make sure you always use the same usb port, follow his Instructions to the letter

when the cable is plugged into the port on the car, does the red LED light up on the cable head?

in XP CTRL Panel, System, is the port showing?, if so, what port is assigned to it. i always use port 1

regards

Take everything out of your USB ports, nothing plugged in at all. Boot into Windows XP and once all is booted up properly, load up Device Manager from the Control Panel.

Here, you can see your devices including the ones plugged into your USB ports. Plug in your cable and then click properties for this device. You then need to ensure that it is Set to COM1 on the port settings under advanced.

This will assign COM1 as the port on this particular USB Port, so remeber which one it is that you have plugged into.

Then try that.

You're doing it on XP whereas the guide is for Win7 so it'll be slightly different.

com 2 shows up in the layout it should be tho. any ideas on what the settings should be on this screen ?
