starryboy Posted November 27, 2008 Report Share Posted November 27, 2008 I have just finished installing Angel eyes in my mates 51 plate 320d and wanted to share a couple of pics which may give you some help. I know there are lots of pics / guides out there but most appear to show wires outside the light. These pics show everything inside the light and also how to hide those white wires! This one shows how ive run the wires through some black heat shrink. This will help to hide the wires running across the top of the lamp! This one shows the eyes installed, with wires enclosed in heat shrink and the invertor neatly tucked down the side of the lamp. Also how we have inserted the cables inside ot the side light plug. This one shows my able assistant (with dirty hands lol) sliding the wires into the side lamp bulb holder. With this one the posative and negative had to be round the right way for the eyes to work! Here you can see how the black heat shrink helps to disguise the white wires of the eyes. Once the trim goes back on the top the wires are almost invisible. Job Done. All in all was an easy install, too just over 45 mins with care! Hope these pics help and give you some tips on how to make the install a bit tidier. Not sure what Starry boys are but yes they do go straight into the original wiring. Mine went into the original plugs and the shrink wrapped the plugs to seal them and stop any movement. One that I know I need to get connected to the footwell light under the steering column, and another for the always on thing that taps onto a wire in the wiring box on the passenger side......? On opening the box it appears all the angel eyes are the same size and on trying to fit them to headlights they fit high beam side ok but on the main beam side of the headlight they are smaller than the headlight reflector. Dont worry vanbasten,I have a facelift touring and my Predator Orions were all the same size and I started to panic on opening them, only to relax again when we fitted them, mine have slightly more space around them when they are installed into the outer main beam area than when they are fitted inside the High beams, I think its about 10mm around the actual ring on the main beam and about 5 or 6mm around it in the high beam, although we have different set ups im guessing that manufacturers of these things make them one size for each application and when installed you can only tell from very close scrutiny. rajjy Posted September 5, 2012 Report Share Posted September 5, 2012 Hello, didn't want to start a new thread considering the amount already on here regarding Angel Eyes. I was driving home lastnight and noticed in the reflection on the car in front of me that one of my angel eye rings seems to have moved sideways ever so slightly, so that a section of the ring is obscured. As these only clip on to an assembly, and the state of the roads around here, I'm not surprised. A bit miffed as it now looks wonky. My question is if I open up the headlights, and possibly use a small blob of silicon glue to ensure the clips don't move laterally, would that be stupid? I know putting on too much would be a d**k move, as the rings may need replacing should they suffer a failure. but a small blob would be enough to hold the ring in place, and could be cut away should I need to remove the ring....... right?
