Scouring through autotrader as usual on my lunch break and stumbled accross this beauty (above). Anyone driven one or owned one? i thought it would be quicker than the ad states to 60 with 300bhp!?

That's kind of what I thought. Aside from the obvious performance changes, is it just an SE body kit with front splitter spoiler and wing mirrors. Reasonable price too I think

Its quicker than that, I don't know the exact figures but its in between the 330 and M3 assuming its the B3s and not the normal B3.

It doesn't say its a b3s but the specs are for the b3s, standard b3 is 276bhp. I've seen a few e46 b3s on the internet that actually have a b3s badge on the rear so maybe it's not?

Another nice one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-e46-ALPINA-B3-3-3-COUPE-LOW-MILES-FSH-RARE-CAR-ENTHUSIAST-OWNED-LIKE-M3-/120913254959?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item1c26fdda2f#ht_2640wt_922

Hi,

The B3S will have the 'S' moniker on the rear, and is also 3.4 litre in displacement, so I'm thinking from the price as well, this isn't an 'S' version.

The one I had;

The 'S' is fast and of course is based on the 3.0 petrol and is rated at 304HP - you do have to wind the engine up to get the performance though! No need to say anything about the Alpina changes and what they're about as it's all common knowledge.

For me, I absolutely hated the 'thin' steering wheel - I know some Alpina owners who'll swap them out with E46 M3 SMG steering wheels for instance. All else was fine and typical E46-esque.

The 'S' will go for at least a few, or 3 to 5 grand more than a regular 3.3.

Cheers, Dennis!

i assumed this would be an s judging by the price, but no badge. The performance stats are crazy compared to the other one!! it does look good though, love the exhaust

Looks lovely but serviced 3 times in 11 years?

I was thinking exactly the same!! 'Full service history' being that it's serviced when BMW recommend it at the mileage limit!

BMW actually say something like "when the car says so, or every 2 years, whichever comes sooner" which is kind of annoying as it meant I had to service my car unnecessarily just because I hadn't done enough miles in 2 years :/

Yeah I know they do, it makes sense really. If a car does 5k miles each year, servicing every 2 years is hardly a big deal is it? Yet doing 30k miles every year it may need to be serviced twice. It's all relative really :)

True, i only do around 2000-3000 miles a year so just plan to ignore the service indicator and have an oil service yearly and full service every 2 years, do you think that sounds OK?

Yep thats what I did, and I covered around 3000 miles per year but always changed the oil every year.

Cool, full service will cover oil change so yup, fresh oil every year and sparks, filters etc every 2 years, not a big price to pay for peace of mind. Dont see why people dont do an oil change every year anyway for the price of £50 (kwik fit quote for my 330ci) as long as you watch them do it

just worried about my wheel bearing that i was told was on its way out on its service a few weeks ago, they told me to drive more until it gets worse so they can pinpoint what wheel, im going away next weekend for the bank holiday and will probably do around 500 miles. ive only done around 75 miles since the service and im guessing since as they couldnt pinpoint it its not too bad at the moment, do you guys think ill be OK? after that i should then be able to pinpoint it and get it fixed. what do you reckon?
