Daviee
Hi, Just thought I'd start a thread about any andrive questions that may pop up as a few members have recently fitted the unit. Think we'll be picking your brains a bit here mints Can I do anything about the car DVD image when a cd is playing? Like download a different image or a screensaver maybe? Also, has anyone else came across the unit jumping through the source modes when you start the car? Mine never seems to stay on the same source as it was on when I switched it off Cheers Davie
Stooza
Yep, mine does this, Andrive are looking into it. Also they are testing a booster for the DTV aerial to help reception. When in bluetooth mode for the phone, a search facility would be good so you don't have to scroll through all your contacts to get to the one you want, i.e. to get to my mate Steve's number I must scroll and scroll until I get to the S's. Don't know the answer but its not a hardship but it would be interesting to know if in the future there's an udate of sorts to sort this out. Haven't played a CD yet so can't comment but today I showed a customer my unit after he'd retro fitted the BMW full screen NAv unit and spet god knows what else on a digital tuner to go with it.... he's apparanty kicking himself this evening.. But over all very impressed with what I;ve got looks factory sound wise even with the factory asmatic speajks on board its for now doing me just fine..... I haven't tried the DTV facility that much noticed that at home I get no signal; at all, in the local Tesco's car park I got BBC Parliment and at work shed load of channels were open to me to watch but if Andrive are woking on swome kind of boooster I;m sure they'll come through. Only used the Bluetooth facility and they bloody never answered the phone so I couldn't test it out but as long as I can make and take calls for now I'm happy with what I've got but like all things over time perhaps these little things maybe loooked at with some software upgrades of some kind. Me personally I'm really looking forward to getting the Sat Nav up and running which according to Mint shouldn't be too long berofre the CD's arrive for us to load on to micro SD
Stooza
Could I say, before this thread gets properly kicked off, that it should be for questions and suggestions only? If someone were unfortunate enough to have a technical problem then they should contact Andrive directly as it's a bit more professional and fairer. It would also keep this thread on topic as I feel it has great value (Cheers to Daviee for starting it) Daviee

Bluetooth works really well for me, inbuilt mic seems to pick up everything well enough for me not to get away with whispering things to the other person in the car without my mum hearing on the other end of the line!!! Beware lol Edited July 2, 2012 by Stooza
old grey steve
Bluetooth works really well for me, inbuilt mic seems to pick up everything well enough for me not to get away with whispering things to the other person in the car without my mum hearing on the other end of the line!!! Beware lol Do you know what I spent ages looking for a mic in the box(so used to having one you see clipped in some where)looked at the back of the head unit for a socket to plug one in once found, looked everywhere and was really wondering whether one hadn't been packed or something and then I saw the tiny bit of writing on the front and the tiny hole that told me I'd need to look a bit closer next time... But as a product I really do still maintain its a cracking bit of kit and I've got to congratulate those who got Andrive up'n'running in getting this bit of kit out to us. We've got to all remember that we're the first reciepents of these great head units and I'm sure as time goes by little things we will as we all get used to our units find the odd little things that we need answering and I'm sure the guys at Andrive will do their utmost to feed us with the information we need as time goes by to solve any issues we have Stooza and Daviee
Stooza
And so say all of us! Works both ways too, the opportunity for constructive feedback that Andrive has here will help all parties matey Edited July 2, 2012 by Stooza

TheDarkRealm
Has anyone tried loading any Nav software on it yet? Ive tried my copy of Co-Pilot 8, it loads but occationally gets confused between the inbuilt memory and my SD Card and when it does load properly the cars position never updates, but the feed coming from the GPS unit appears to be accurate. Google Navigation never completes the search, quits to the homescreen towards the end. I also expected the new software on the unit to be an updated/custom rom, but if you reset the Andriod side you get the stock ROM in Chinese, just appears the new software is a few apps from the market that are wiped on reset. WiFi and 3G work fine, but all the bluetooth stacks in the Kernel are disabled so theres no hope in getting it running without significant amounts of messing around. I was hoping it would be like the new Dynavin and have the software but requires a dongle, but this is not the case. Cant do much more digging around without root access Definately underwhelmed by the Android side of the unit so far. I expected it to offer a similar experience to a last gen budget smartphone (something along the lines of a ZTE blade) but its far slower/less responsive. Im sure most of these things can be fixed, am looking forward to an updated rom (or until I can work out how to root it) because the unit sorely needs it. The radio side of the unit so far is fantastic, bluetooth works perfectly including A2DP, radio sounds far better than the last one I had installed. Quite a novelty having DTV in the car too when it works, am just waiting for the feedback on purchasing an amplified aerial, if it works Im definately getting one. Bit of a mixed bag so far really. TheDarkRealm
No, no option for it, although the built in one is pretty good for making calls. No option for android voice command though.
Stooza
Voice command would make the contacts search I mentioned pretty redundant. I like the idea of voice command.
Daviee
Something else I've wondered is when using an android app, how the he'll do I get out of it? Downloaded angry birds for my daughter for the wow factor, then realised the android side was stuck on the game, help

I would uninstall copilot and try again. Never seen this happen before. Suspect it's a dodgy copilot copy. The rom has had updates but nothing you would notice. It has been configured to match the orange lighting and to have a more sensible layout. A new rom and in fact a new wince firmware is being worked on as we speak. This will be user upgrade able. There is at present no way for Bluetooth to work via android. This should be a new feature in the new rom. Unfortunately, messing with the root would invalidate the warranty. Therefore the unit is not and will not be factory rooted. Edited July 3, 2012 by mintimperial havoc and Stooza
Stooza
All sounds groovy! BTW I have excellent radio reception. It was poor before I found a load of gubbins fitted after market to boost the signal.. removed it and radio sprang to life, no fading out, clipping or fuzzyness. Cannock, you sure your fm amp doesn't have issues??
