daza-b
Hi i am guessing this has been covered many times but after needing 2 wings and a bonnet for my car due to either rust or paint issues i thought i may aswell do a facelift conversion... so what will i need?? Im guessing: Bonnet, Wings, Headlights, Bumper, Light Panel... anything else?? Daz
Salim
Im pretty sure the bumpers are the same. You might have some issues with coding the new lights in though, might need a new LCM or something

Wash
You don't need to code the lights in or anything. The bumpers are different if you have an SE spec car, which your car is. You can use this chance to upgrade to the sport bumper which is the same regardless of whether your car is a pre-facelift or a facelift. Other than that, you need the wings and the bonnet but you need to make sure that they're complete because the grills for the bonnet are different on the facelift, as are the side indicators on the wings. You don't need any sort of "light panel", the facelift lights will pop straight in. Sport bumper looks like this just in case you're wondering (the coupe and the convertible share the same bumpers, the saloon and touring have different bumpers though): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/M-Sport-Front-bumper-kit-fogs-for-BMW-E46-coupe-conv-/251101062022?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a76ca2386 daza-b
daza-b
Thats good news with the light panel, another issue that worries me is the headlight washers? Are these also needed?? The bumper is not too much of a problem a i have seen a body kit i really like, its not OTT but its not standard either lol if a M-sport bumper comes up cheap then i will go for that in the mean time

I'm not sure whether the headlight washer itself is different between the facelift and the pre-facelift models but personally I'd just get rid of the entire headlight washer, they're not really all that necessary. Any links to the bodykit you're wanting to fit? 99% of aftermarket bodykits look incredibly ugly on the E46, the best bumper is definitely the sport bumper! daza-b
I know was thinking of washer removal, can you get the panels without the washer?? here is the link to the kit: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310407480044?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
Salim
Oh I didn't know you had an SE. Wash, the headlights are just a straight swap between the two? Are you sure because the rears require coding of the LCM don't they

Also, believe me when I tell you that bodykit will look awful! BMWs look best with OEM bumpers, they're not saxos Oh I didn't know you had an SE. Wash, the headlights are just a straight swap between the two? Are you sure because the rears require coding of the LCM don't they Yeah, the front headlights are a straight swap (but you need different wings obviously). If you buy genuine LED rears to fit to a pre-facelift then those need coding but the fronts are fine.
Aly
+1 on that bodykit... It's too aggressive for an E46 imho! Better with a sport set up or leave them as is!
