smiggy
I got some ccfl ones there ace, cheap, bright as hell and so far reliable (touches wood) they were only 20quid, the led ones look s**te imho you can see the individual leds Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using Tapatalk 2 You got a link to where you bought these from mate? DonB
Alot of cheaper led kits are very poor quality, I've seen them and they're rubbish. If you want a proper led kit, you have to get Umnitza Orion V2, they're expensive but look far far far better than any other led or ccfl kits. Trevor
I have a £20 set of CCFL ones on my car, weren't even new when I got them. Been faultless and look spot on. I tried LEDs before these and really didn't like them, much too bright and the individual LEDs were very visible, in ya face even. Sent them back and got these CCFL ones. Michael Lam
Just to throw my LED ones in the mix, these have a opaque cover over them so the LED's don't stand out in your face like the ones you find on eBay etc FYI the item number Trevor has provided will fit your car. Potnoodle
I did find a guide somewhere but can't remember where. I took some photos as I did it though so I'll knock one up if you have trouble It's not hard to do, alhtough mine's a pre-facelift so I don't know if there is any difference to the facelift. Am I right in saying the facelifts are sealed units? On the pre-facelift, it's just a case of removing the brow under the headlight, remove the indicator, undo a few clips to remove the lens, pull out the housing inside, clip the rings on, run the wires through the back, hook the ballasts up to your sidelights, reverse the process of taking them apart and you're done Quick question for you as i have more or less the same motor as you. How did you connect them up? Also do you have a link to the ones you bought? Thanks Dave
Nimraynn
Quick question for you as i have more or less the same motor as you. How did you connect them up? Also do you have a link to the ones you bought? Thanks Dave These are the ones I bought: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-3-SERIES-E46-REFLECTOR-CCFL-ANGEL-EYE-KIT-6000K-NON-PROJECTOR-TYPE-/300601444918?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Plat_Gen%3AE46&hash=item45fd3e0a36 The photo shows projectors, but they're the non-projector type as per the title. If you're unsure, the guys there are generally helpful so just send them a quick message Fitting is pretty easy. You have to dismantle the front of the headlamp unit which can be done on the car. Remove the indicator, followed by the trim under the light, then a few clips to undo the main cover to the headlamp, then it all comes apart. The rings themselves just clip onto the top of the reflector housing, poke the cabling through the back of the light and out through the grommet at the back. Unplug the sidelight, remove the bulb and the holder. I've then just slotted each cable into the pins on the sidelight plug. They're a really tight and secure fit. I've then just taped it all up with electrical tape to make sure it stays there and doesn't cause any problems. I do still have the photos and I do keep meaning to write up that guide, so I'll try and get it done one night this week Potnoodle
