Also I am planning to do my EGR, I want to buy the Allard one, where abouts does the metal blank go? Is the EGR Coolant easy to remove? What BHP are you getting from your 330D Vert? JasonK Posted July 19, 2015 Author Report Share Posted July 19, 2015 Indeed it has - I have been far too busy! If it weren't for Tapatalk, I would barely have even had chance to look at the forum! So there have been some minor updates I have undertaken, which I will summarise here! - Further 'fettling' of the exhaust to let her breathe more easily - An MSD Stage 2 type map to further 'loosen' things up a bit. - A new OEM Clutch and DMF - apparently 'loosened up' by the previous two mods Still, over 100K on the originals isn't bad! To be fair, the DMF was rattling before.. - A Stage 2 Amp upgrade by Baris on the BM54. I have to say, I am very impressed with the difference it made. Certainly on the Harmon Kardon system, there really was an appreciable difference in the sound - obviously an increase in volume for the same setting (4W - 50W upgrade per channel or something, IIRC?), but the quality improved also. Mids were clearer, and the bass (even from the naff HK sub) was less muddy. - A Tune Stream Bluetooth adaptor connected to the AUX In on the BM54, so tunes can be streamed from my phone - It works well enough. Not steller sound quality as there is no AptX or anything, but it does the job when I am not using the iPod through the Intravee! I then decided that I needed a speaker upgrade to eek a little more out of the recently upgraded OEM system. Having had a look around, read threads of some of the impressive installs some of you guys have, and read around some more - I took the easy way out! I was never going to pay list price, but their circa half-price offer brought it close enough to justifiable money for me to bite. And so I purchased: - Bavsound Stage 1 Speaker upgrade. Honestly, I know I could probably have got better for the money, but frankly I couldn't be arsed! Actual time spent by myself from when I typed 'www.bavsound.com' to sitting in the car marvelling at the sound quality was less than 2.5 hours - I could have spent that long deciding on alternatives (especially if I wanted to stay around the ridiculous 2Ohm impedance of the HK fit), let alone faffing about to get them to fit. I also got some pikey sound deadening material and fitted it in an attempt to bulk up the doorcards a bit and stop resonance/rattling (all fitted within the quoted 2.5 Hours) - It has worked surprisingly well. Overall, I am impressed with the speakers. Music taste and sound is a very personal thing, so what I like, others will surely hate. As they loosen up, they continue to improve, but there was a definite improvement on the stock HK speakers straight away. Presumably the amp upgrade helps drive the speakers towards their best also, so whether there would be as much an improvement without the upgrade I don't know.
