Mike- Posted April 27, 2013 Report Share Posted April 27, 2013 While I stole this from DW in terms of method, there was nothing on here about it and thought you may be interested in an E46 having it done. I've had a chip on my roof for a while now and it was pissing me off. Being the worst chip on the car I thought it'd be a good control for doing the rest. Clean it out with some meths or whatever. P1040008 by M Rawlings, on Flickr Put a big blob of touch up paint on. Let it dry. P1040009 by M Rawlings, on Flickr Get some 2500 and soapy water and sand it down. P1040010 by M Rawlings, on Flickr Get a polisher out. I just used a cheap DA and some Menzerna finish compound. P1040012 by M Rawlings, on Flickr Admire your work. P1040013 by M Rawlings, on Flickr I used a small 35ml bottle of paint from 'ukautospares' on eBay, and the paint was branded Auto Paint Direct. I'll be removing my bumper when I can be bothered and doing the lot. Hope this helps or gives people the confidence to do this. You don't need to be a pro detailer or anything. They're good at removing them ever so slightly, but if you really want them gone then you're going to need a rotary.
