Quiksilver_TR
Tried to diagnose a friends facelift 318 saloon tonight. Managed to read, clear adn re-read the airbag module using INPA, the issue with that was that the airbag light was on and it turned out to be a passenger occupancy sensor fault so the light came straight back on. The EML (picture of the engine) light was on so I accessed the engine (N42) through INPA and got the following error: "versions do not match. Malfunction possible" When I pressed ok, it would let me see the errors in the engine module but other than reading it wouldnt let me do anything so I couldnt clear the codes/light. The only error it showed me was the pre cat lambda sensor being faulty. Firstly will a faulty pre-cat lambda throw that light on? Secondly what the deal with that error message? Is it a engine module (ecu) issue or is it the INPA needing a different version to fully access the car?? Thanks Edited November 10, 2013 by Quiksilver_TR
TriggerFish
I get that message on something (airbag ECU I think), but it works fine with all INPA functions. Would be nice to remove it though if you find a cure!
bungers
From memory it's a SGBD/daten issue, You can update them from the internet: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=480261
bungers
I get it on some modules on some cars but it doesn't stop me doing anything so just ignore it.
Rich_D
I get this one mine, never had an issue with any diagnostics or coding though, just ignore it
Quiksilver_TR
Ah right. Not 100% sure what SGBD/daten issues are or how to cure them from that link. Lol! Strange that all you guys managed to just carry on, I didn't have the option to clear error codes, I could only read error codes
