Dee330Ci
Well, had the lovely task of replacing this over the weekend: All went well, had a denso fsr and whoever did this, did me the favour of leaving the 2nd torx so I didn't have to fight it, so thank you lol! Whilst I was in the car, I thought something needs brightening up a touch, so the interior went from: To this: I think this breaks up the black interior just right, the pics look more blue than in real life.......options please? Thanks, Dee
Carlosos
Looks very nice, as you said its nice to break up the big black slab of a dash. I've got the plain silver trim. Also just put piano black in my old mans and looks a lot better than I thought it would.

Dee330Ci
I didn't plan to colour code mine, I wanted a charcoal grey but this "ford sea grey" is a close match to steel grey, looks better than black!

Dee330Ci
I assume you took the door cards off to do the front armrests?? Yup, along with the rear cards. Took no longer than 15 mins to get them off and stripped ready for paint. djsb29

Chockis
Really nice results, How did you paint them in carbon cube style? I thought the only way is to vinyl wrap all the trims. Is it easier? Thanks

Thanks The cube pattern is a metal facia so this comes trough the paint. Could you please share some of the information on how to do it? Like what type of primer and paint did you use? And can I be 100% sure that it is metal facia as my one seems to be plastic? When I knock it with fingers it doesn't sound like metal really but my one seems to be original ones. The pattern is 3D cubes and it is possible to feel the texture of the pattern. It is quiet difficult for me to explain so I will try to post some pictures later of the current state of my trims. Thanks.

Thanks. Mine is definitely a metal fasica, you can see the it from the edge of the trim. What I did was; Clean with a stiff bristled brush with water and a bit of washing up liquid. Rinse thoroughly. Wiped down with meths, wait till dry. Wiped down with panel wipes, again wait to dry. Sprayed two light coats of grey halfrauds primer, waited about and hour to dry between coats. When I re-did them black; used halfrauds satin black, two/three coats was sufficient, waiting around half hour/45 mins to dry between coats. When I did them the grey, used the same primer and then used ford sea grey from halfrauds again. Bobs your uncle

Bobs your uncle Thank you very much, sounds a lot easier and of better quality than wrapping with vinyl. Also it seems like there is a lot less hassle to spray it. I hope my one is metal facia as well. And do you know if metal facia was a standard for all BMW sport models? My one is 320ci sport year 2003 facelift. bungers
Metal finished interior trims weren't standard, it all depends on the trim type that was specified when new. IIRC it's only the 'cube' (black or silver) & brushed aluminium that is actual metal. The rest is either wood or plastic. Chockis
Here are some pictures. Please confirm if it's safe to prime and spray paint my trims? Now when I had a closer look it seems like it can be some kind of light metal like aluminium, as the scratches are shiny, and it is slightly colder to touch than plastic I know it is not very scientific description but... http://i1166.photobucket.com/albums/q608/Chockis/10566675_10152507802843567_102462077_n_zps5a3aa60e.jpg http://i1166.photobucket.com/albums/q608/Chockis/10521877_10152507802553567_243129396_n_zpsb8a76f99.jpg http://i1166.photobucket.com/albums/q608/Chockis/10563415_10152507802203567_153908156_n_zpsdadf77c5.jpg http://i1166.photobucket.com/albums/q608/Chockis/10551944_10152507743303567_1969458684_n_zps0d4fb4b5.jpg Thanks Edited July 21, 2014 by Chockis
Dee330Ci
That's the same as mine, although some of those scratches seem really deep so may show through, even then a couple of rattles cans won't cost much just to try it out.
