They asked me if they could have their grandchildren this weekend so we foolishly made plans including a night away. Just cancelled on me. 2nd time this month. Luckily in laws stepped in again. I hate asking the in laws as they already do loads of stuff for us. In retaliation the Mrs and I are sending the in laws away for a weekend for the father in laws 70th birthday. I always pay cash for everything except internet purchases. I draw what I'm going to need from the hole in the wall every pay day. Never a problem........ Until today. Last week when we were in Scotland, I needed diesel late on the Sunday evening and the only open station anywhere near was an Asda. Don't normally use Adsa fuel, but there ya go. I went to draw my monthly cash this evening and where's my card??? f**ked if I know! Last time I remember seeing it was when I had to use it for that diesel. I've probably left it in the f**kin' automated pump. At least there's no untoward useage on my account, and now I've been onto the Bank and stopped the card. What's really a pisser is that I had enough cash on me at the time to pay for probably 3 full tanks of fuel. I've had cards since the early '80s and never lost one yet........ If I've got cash, I know exactly what I have available - if I haven't got it, I can't spend it. If I were to use plastic all the time, I'd be forever in debt because I'd just spend, spend, spend. I even made mortgage payments (when we had one, it was paid-off years ago) in cash at the branch. Plastic is a con to get as many people as possible up to their necks and beyond in debt so the Banks can screw them for extortionate interest and stupid charges. If it wasn't for my employer insisting that I be paid by BACS, I'd use cash for everything, not have a Bank account, and not bother buying off the 'net unless I could pay cash on collection.
