Clutch Slipping - Possible cause for Engine Management Light?

Recommended Posts

My engine management light is on and a clutch replacement next month due to slipping.

Is it known for the EML to come on with a slipping clutch? or other possible fault?

...I'll be getting the flywheel replaced at the same time.

Anyone in south Kent with diagnostic machine let me know.

Just get the proper stuff (INPA and DIS), the cables and software can be had on eBay for peanuts and will do a much better job than the generic code readers.

Do you know whether they are relatively easy and self explanatory?

I'm reasonably computer literate and have some from of common sense too lol

Lol they do need a bit of learning but it's nothing TOO technical really, I'd maybe check a few videos on YouTube of people using INPA so you get a feeling of what to expect.

There's quite a few people on here who know how to use it too so if you get stuck, you can always get answers here.

Cheers.

So I got myself the DIS INPA stuff with cable and full 78 page instructions for £49.99 off eBay (full buy it now price included assistance where required for installing - he sure didn't make a profit out of me I can assure you).

Was really chuffed with the software, and being a total amature I found the fault in about half an hour.. it said it was the air box sensor, had a look cleaned it seemed fine. checked the intake boot and it was split, replaced and now the light has gone!

Thanks for the advice much appreciated.

Can you advise on what you searched for in Ebay for this as my eml is on also and thought this may be due to clutch slipping however read this should not be the case.

I would love to self diagnose as you did as works out way cheaper :)

cheers!
