Jollygreengiant
Hi guys, decided recently that giving the car a monthly clean isn't going to cut it any more an d have gone on fully detailing mode. Got all my kit that I need to hand polish the Topaz Blue 325. My question is; after I give it the best clean polish and wax of its life, how do I clean it the next time round. I have wax safe shampoo, do I just use this as usual ? or do I top up the polish and wax ? or just wax ? and when do you use quick detailer ? just top wipe of dust before shows ? Thanks for all your help The Laird
das_flo
Personally, and everyone is different. I only wax about once a month, and polish a couple of times a year. I use a spray sealant after the weekly wash and dry to keep the gloss. I'm using autobrite project 32 at the moment, it's quite good. Chemical guys V7 I can also recommend. I've heard good things about Zaino Z8, and dodo juice red mist too, but I haven't used them personally. HTH! Edit: Just on QD, I don't bother, I just use spray sealers but a decent quick detailer will do the same job. Finishkare 425 is on my 'to try' list, might be worth a gander? Jay.
Hi mate, if you prefer to buy 'off the shelf' products as such, something like Meguiars gold class is good to keep ontop of your finish & topping up with something like Autoglym Aqua Wax is favourible to myself, but as Das has said, its massivley subjective Checkout www.detailingworld.com, a great source for all the info youll ever need

Jollygreengiant
Thanks for your replys. This is what I'm using, no machine just by hand, this is what I have chosen tailored towards my car colour. I will try and do a before and after. Just waiting for that nice sunny weekend to do it now. The Laird

das_flo
A good detailing spray would fit in nice. You can use it as clay lube too. If I were you I would buy a good microfibre drying towel now, and you're tooled up!

Quiksilver_TR
Bit of topaz love for ya Whole different level of gloss/shine/depth/reflections/beading etc when it's machine corrected/polished. I used to do it by hand and top the wax up monthly but bit the bullet and got all the gear to machine polish/correct and then added GTechniq coatings on top. msb1973
Thanks for all your help Op once you've done a detail and used your wax or sealant of choice all future washes should require is in the first instance a good safe wash regime, ie use a prewash or foam to remove as much debris as possible, then wash using the 2 bucket method with use of grit guards and a decent wash media and a wax safe shampoo(don't get hung up on the ph neutral bs as most shampoos in concentrated form are acid based believe it or not) then when finished dry with a nice drying towel and when you feel it needs it top up with a quick detailer. The issue with qd's is there are alot about and they often do different things, theres ones with gloss enhancers that do exactly that enhance gloss, through to spray sealants, my 2 personal favorites for finish and adding some fresh protection are Carpro Reload and Sonax Brilliant Shine Detailer. however if you want a pure usual conventional qd i'd favor Af's Finale, Meguiars last touch(this is one that can be used as clay lube the rest can't)or Autobrites Elegance, hope this helps Pauly123

Nimraynn
How often you top the wax up is really down to how durable your particular wax is and how wax-safe your shampoo really is. Personally, I top it up with a layer or wax or sealant maybe every third or fourth wash. If I'm using wax, I use Dodo Juice Purple Haze. If I'm using sealant, I use Chemical Guys Black Light topped with Chemical Guys Hybrid V7 spray sealant. msb1973
