Mr Xen
Hi Guys, Looking to upgrade my brake pads...... Happy with the standard discs Has any one used Ferodo DS2500 pads, if so would they buy them again? Or any alternatives ? Rich_D
Ferodo DS2500's are superb, but not cheap and probably overkill for road use IMO I'm running EBC Yellowstuff in the M5, much improved over standard, they are a good fast road pad and I'll be using them again Mr Xen and momo
Mr Xen
Thank you Rich..... I'm trying to freshen up the car.... Making it feel more on point How much dust does the EBC yellow make out of interest?
mjn
Don't forget to upgrade your brake hoses and do a fluid refresh. Mr Xen
momo
I've had EBC Yellow for a few years now. I did the full EBC upgrade - so yellowstuff pads and turbogroove (grooved and dimpled, not drilled!) discs, with braided hoses. Feels MUCH better. I recently fit a new set of Yellows all around again after my 1st set wore down. They lasted me since ~4 years! That's plenty long enough for me. Dust wise - they produce a bit less than standard pads from what I can tell.. They're not great! But then again I wash my car once every couple of months at the moment.. If you wash your car more regularly then the brake dust won't be much of an issue. Edited April 28, 2015 by momo Mr Xen

Would it be to keep some heat within the pads? Edited April 28, 2015 by Mr Xen

momo
Drilled discs can crack over time if not done properly in the manufacturing process. I just don't trust them! lol. Plus EBC don't do them and I wanted a full EBC setup - the closest they offer is the dimpled/grooved discs. <---- That's what I have Once they wear down a little they lose that odd funky colour. Brembo (the only type of company i'd trust with drilled discs) do them - but only for the front. So I think it'd look odd if the rears aren't drilled. Failing that I think you can get BMW Performance drilled discs - but they're WELL expensive (I think they're Brembo too)! Mr Xen
