Sexpanther
I will be picking up a 330ci very soon, but I find that the exhaust is a little quiet for my liking. After watching various videos on youtube. I really like the sound from a muffler delete. That means I don't have to mess around with the cats or pull my hair out come MOT time and leave a whiff of petrol wherever I go. Has anyone on here done this? I've also been searching the forums for the best recommended exhaust tip size. I'm thinking of opting for a twin pipe with single inlet off eBay, but I don't know the stock exhaust tip outlet diameter size and what aftermarket outlet size I should opt for. So what size would you guys recommend? Thanksies. Edited August 6, 2015 by Sexpanther

E46 Coupe
Can this only be done in 330s? Can it be removed on a 320ci?

berts
where would you be able to get a resonator delete done?

evokid
Just be aware I believe the 330 has twin pipes from cats all the way to back box , whereas mine went from 2 cats into 1 pipe.
B0B
Just be aware I believe the 330 has twin pipes from cats all the way to back box , whereas mine went from 2 cats into 1 pipe. As far as I know all of the M54 based engines have twin pipes. Yours is an M52 as was my first E46 (323) and yep they are 2-1-
evokid
Mine M52 2.8 has one big bore pipe from cats back to std exhaust? As per pic above in previous post? But that agrees with parts Catalogue on Realoem. :-) assume the Twin pipes all way back are less restrictive on the 3.0 ?

Yeah yours goes from two headers to a single pipe that runs all the way into the back box that has a twin exit 2-1-2 Yeah I assume so too. I'm about to take my exhaust off from the headers and get a nice stainless section made up to go into the new back box I just bought. Eisenmann twin 76mm road version, hopefully it will sound nice on full chat but quiet ish when cruising
evokid
Nice, suspect that will sound awesome. So your de-Catting, no resonator and just the new back box? I love the sound with Resonator delete, now toying with idea of back box upgrade also! :-) Edited August 8, 2015 by evokid Woddy187

I love the sound with Reaonator delete, now toying with idea of back box upgrade also! :-) Yeah I plan to do away with the standard set up, so I will be loosing the secondary cats (apparently it will pass emissions with either the primary or secondary cats fitted) and loosing the resonators too
Melv1958
What does the non res sound like on a auto?
Sexpanther
Sorry for not replying back to the comments guys, had to deal with my brothers wedding over the weekend and got sidetracked as I had the keys to a 435d and the new AMG GT. Anyway, back to topic, I'm not after anything crazy loud as I have an mx5 which has an obnoxiously loud 3.5" exhaust with a decat and i don't want to hear that annoying drone on a daily. Damo88 raised a good question, what do either systems sound like on an auto, is there any difference? Thanks
jammo
My old 330ci (manual) had a res delete and aftermarket backbox and in my opinion that sounded spot on! I was toying with the secondary cats but I think it starts getting louder then!
gaz-777
I have res delete and it sounds nice, although I would would to replace the factory rear box with an Eisenmann just to amplify it a bit more.
DazRave
My cat and resi delete: can ONLY JUST hear it from the cabin with the windows up. It's not really loud at all unless you are directly behind the car. Edited August 11, 2015 by DazRave B0B, rickyh147 and GRE608Y
Sexpanther
That sounds really really good. I think that's the sound I'm after. Not too loud, but enough to notice. I might opt for a res delete first and go from there. Don't really wanna mess with the cats, as that means more problems to worry about come MOT time. There's sounds like mine just not as loud. Comparing the cars, I personally think all the resi really does is muffle things.
