RickyZ's New E39 530iAT Sport

Recommended Posts

Back on 4th July I picked up the new steed.

Before this I have had 2 classic Minis and 4 E46 3 series, the immediate successor was a Corsa (trying to save money - couldnt do it)

The car is a 2001 530iAT Sport, its on approx 131000/132000 miles and doesn't have a massive spec however it has been well looked after.

Was originally owned by a BMW member of staff.

It needs a few things doing, which I will make time for, mainly rear wiper not working fully and nasty scratch on passenger rear quarter.

The drive is sublime, so much nicer and smooth than the E46s.

I don't think I could ever go back to an E46 after this.

Anyway enough from me, heres a couple of pics:

The next mod was to remove the BM54 and get it upgraded by Baris (carphonics.co.uk). I chose to do this as I had no radio or sound and it turns out the BM54 was dead anyway.

I had the Stage 2 amp upgrade including firmware, AUX cable, Bluetooth streaming and 2 x RCA pre-outs.

Awesome purchase Ricky.

Have to agree e39>e46

I would love a manual 530 as a daily, petrol or diesel.

Is your towbar removable at all? - personally I think it spoils an otherwise good looking rear end

Thanks Daz - same interior as my old one :D

Thanks Shabaza - I intend to remove it, but need to buy the proper cover first, I agree it needs to come off

Thanks El Turko - Its light yellow as opposed to champagne but is basically specced as a champagne model :)

Thanks Das - once I have done a bit more to it it'll get a wash and some new pics

Long term plans are simple:

E39 M5AT - there is only 1 in the world done by BMW and it lives at the M garage and is a proper M5 with a manual box etc

There are some reps online which I am sure you can find if need be

I may end up leaving the engine alone but the exterior conversion is easy to will def be doing that

Good news is the Mrs has given approval for a quad Eisenmann after the wedding :D

The connector in the boot may be for the Motorola GSM module if it's not there already. Usually comes with a Motorola V50 (or similar) in the centre console.

If you had wood then this would be the touring version of my old e39. Same colour interior, wheels, paint, gearbox everything. Lovely stuff.
