The Air Bag Module Saga.

Recommended Posts

Well after 16 months wait , Spires BMW fitted the new passenger air bag module under re-call today.

They also did a Visual Health Check, here are their findings.

RECOMMENDED A/C REFRESH.                             £50 - 00

(I put an cleaning bomb though the system

a few weeks ago, I cannot smell anything

wrong with it, if there was my old lady has a nose

like a blood hound and would refuse to get in the car.).

COOLANT LEAK FROM FRONT OF ENGINE .       £151 - 00 + PARTS.

(6 weeks ago my indi fitted a new heather tank

and bottom hoses, we pressure tested the system

after fitting, I was standing next to him when he did it.

I check every week the levels, and its not LOST a

drop of coolant. Now maybe the mechanic saw some

old coolant stains from when we changed the header tank

but there is ABSOLUTELY NO LEAK..)

PINK COOLANT REQUIRES CHANGING AS IT SHOULD BE GREEN    £165 - 00  + PARTS.

The pink coolant that's in there is new from when we changed the header tank and hoses

its also compatible with all metals.

Total estimate for the unnecessary work  £366 - 00 + parts and vat.

They said I should not drive the car due to the coolant leak as it would overheat

and destroy the engine, and I should book it in straight away for the work to be done.

I thanked them and left rapidly while I still had my shirt and pants on..!!!

I wont mention the Free Wash & Vac, but I just finished re-washing the car.

Weird - goes to show the different level of service from different dealers.

Rybrook were great with me when they did mine they got me booked in within a few days and did an excellent job of cleaning the car in and out (which was a nice touch given as I wasn't paying them for anything) On the health check they only noted that my two rear tyres needed replacement (which in fairness were due shortly so I'd already bought replacements)

How fitting, had mine replaced last Saturday by Arden Maidstone.

Flawless service, they even washed and vacuumed my car, even asked first if I minded lol

Sales rep kept me entertained looking at M5's, 4's and 3's whilst keeping me drip fed on coffee.

I got a phone call today from Spiers BMW as a follow up to yesterdays visit, asking when I would like to book it in for the work to be done.

I took great delight in telling them that none of the items they highlighted in their BMW Health Check were needed.

I was really annoyed as I don't mind people trying to rip me off once, but the cheek to phone me up and try and

get me to book my car in for unnecessary work is beyond criminal..!!. Bet a lot of old people who don' know better get ripped off

by them. I'm actually not that young so maybe they see me as a target, but surprise, surprise I have spent my life around cars.

First and last time I have been to a stealer, and it just reinforces my belief that they are a complete bunch of rip off merchants.

To be honest Rasa I cannot be bothered spending any more of my time dealings with them.

They didn't "steal" my £366 + parts and vat, but they tried.and failed.
