Help me! Harman Kardon Amp/RCA line out

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone!

I'm pulling my hair out this is my very first post and I'm a bit of a 'Have a go hero' lol so here it goes...

I've tried to fit a Subwoofer into my E46 330ci which already had the Harman Kardon amp/speaker set up. Researching I found i would need a High-Low to RCA line out device which i bought, I also read up where to splice into for the Speakers and remote cable to power my amp. So, i dug everything out the boot stripped down the CD changer frame to get to the Harman Kardon amp disconnected the wiring harness and spliced the wires appropriately and reconnected.

Nowwwww.. my nice new subwoofer and amp are working perfectly BUT all the other speakers in the car have died??? The volt meter says that there is still power coming down that remote cable into the Harman Kardon amp but nothing going to any of the other speakers.

Can anyone see anything that i've obviously overlooked? I've tried the radio fuses in the glove box in case my faffing fired one of thoseoff (since there doesn't seem to be a fuse for the Harman Amp?) but they're still intact. Everything was working fine before i spliced into the wiring harness (i have also tried removing my new wiring completely but its still not out-putting).

It looks like its pointing towards the Harman amp being broken - is there any way to test to see if its functioning before buying a replacement as they still look like 60 - 100 pounds on ebay

Any help you guys can offer i'll be so so grateful!!!

Cheers,
Craig

im still no further forward with this, I've dismantled the hk amp and can't see anything burnt or obviously not working but I truthfully have no idea what I'm looking at!

Ive taken some pics on my iPhone but this site won't let me upload them, or If there's a way to test the circuit board with a multimeter somehow to see if it's behaving as it should??

literally Any help or suggestions would be massively appreciated....?

Have you tried disconnecting all your spliced wires restoring it to original?

I have indeed mate yeah, still no sound at all. I didn't even cut the wires and but-connector them, I just cut the casing and wrapped the new speaker cable around actuall wire then a bit of heat-shrink over the top
