The very helpful instructions to code a DSC module here on the forum don't work for me so assistance would be appreciated

  1. load expertmode
  2. F1 VIN/ZCS/FA
  3. F3 ZCS/FA
  4. Select E46
  5. Select ECU then any of the available modules should provide NCS with your cars details. e.g EWS
  6. F4 process ECU and choose the MK60 module
  7. F3 execute job
  8. Done. NCS should complete successfully (hopefully)

I can get the car details in step 5 from the AKLB module but there is no F4 "process ECU" this is blank so I can go no further.  When I did get a list of DSC modules the MK60 was not present and trying to process any of the others resulted in an error. I also got a COAPI 1020 error as shown.

1. Create a blank file called FSW_PSW.MAN in C:\NCSEXPER\WORK

2. In your first screenshot, just click OK. If you get an error, get back to it and try the second one - keep trying all four modules until you find the one that works for your car. On my 2004 touring, the AKMB responds fine.

The only thing is after that, you have to go back first (far right button) before pressing Process ECU.

Thank you for this. I actually got it to work yesterday. I did create the blank file as I had read this on another forum (it remains empty after the process). I should have captured screen shots as I can't remember the exact sequence but for me it went something like this: I used default profile.

  1. load default profile
  2. F1 VIN/ZCS/FA
  3. F3 ZCS/FA
  4. Select E46
  5. Select AKMB
  6. No F4 option at this stage
  7. F6 back
  8. It then showed SG coderien and a list of modules under the vehicle details
  9. process ECU was under F3
  10. F3. A menu appeared different to the CBD one shown above. I could choose the MK60
  11. Execute job and it worked. The coding error fault has now cleared.

There must be some subtle differences in the way the program or different profiles work.  Certainly trial and error for me but creating the file is key as without it you get the errors.
