M3 Rear Bumper on Coupe?

Recommended Posts

I'm sure this has been asked b4 but i cannot find it on search? I'm sure i read it fits with some modifications, but anyone tried it? Results etc? Just feel the Rear Bumper on mine need a bit more depth. Would obviously then have to route and install some quad pipes too.

Few done it, just think i read somewhere you may have bigger gaps between rear arch and bumper line like you said...

Rear Bumper:
E46-M3-Rear-400.jpg
Difficulty: 6/10
DIY: Probably not.
Part Numbers:
- Re-Bar: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...06&hg=51&fg=15
- Bumper: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...19&hg=51&fg=15

This has only been tried a handfull of times, but this mod is usually accompanied by a widebody. Since there's such a difference between M and non-M rear fenders, this bumper is a good inch or two too wide. To fit this correctly, you'll either need to do some hardcore molding and reshaping of the bumper, or a custom widebody in the rear. If you can deal with the bumper flexing and creating numerous noticeable gaps, then I guess you could do it without modifying anything (and only stretching the sides of the bumper in). Again, this mod isn't highly recommended unless you're serious about modifying your car.

Safe Alternatives:
- Hammann GTR
- Mtech2
- OEM Aero Kit (a.k.a. Mtech1)
- Various rear addons

Pretty sure you can get M3 style diffusers if it's the quad exhaust setup you're after. But it means you have to cut out the spare wheel well unless you get one of those cheap quad jobbies where the right of the quad setup barely gets any flow.

I didn't think they were any deeper? I thought the only difference really was where it meets the arches and the quad diffuser. Otherwise it was the same size as a regular sport bumper.. No?

I think that'd be better way to go if can get the diffuser? This is about best style quad work around i've seen.. Although still not ideal..

Plenty of options on here:

I remember seeing a E92 335i style diffuser too once but can't find it now. I think that looked better as a non-M quad setup always looked to "trying too hard to be an M3" to me.. lol
