  1. Christmas meant slow progress on the car throughout December, but I have now got some parts and tools together to carry on.

Bought a pair of new lower arms, clutch slave cylinder ( that's going to be fun to fit...), steering pump and new rear lollipops.

Also got some Bilt Hamber rust treatment gel and under-seal, torque wrench, nut splitters and a rotary sander.(I'm hoping I can polishing pads for this?)

I need to get some sheet metal from somewhere to start with the welding as this is whats holding me back at the moment. Luckily a friend has said he would help out with this as I'm a novice! Updates soon! (I hope B))

Ordered the E30 a new Shrick camshaft :) I went for 272 degrees in the end. The higher lift ones could give a few more BHP, but all of the graphs I've seen show that they only make the extra power over about 5,000rpm (or whatever). Until then, they make less power, so the 272 seemed the best for daily driving. Add in the fact that there's no concern about the valve and the pistons hitting, and that swayed my opinion.

And finally, who doesn't love some dirty car photos!? (Yes, it needs lows. Again.)

    :punk:

We should have E46Zone awards, You'd win dirtiest car of the year by a landslide

  3. Ho Chow calls into work and says, 'Hey, I no come work today, I really sick. Got Headache, stomach ache and legs hurt. I no come work'.

The  boss says 'You know something Ho Chow, I really need you in today. When I feel sick like you do, I go to my wife and ask her for sex. That makes everything better and I go to work'.

Two hours later Ho Chow calls again. 'I do what you say and I feel great, I be at work soon......... You got nice house'.

  4. Nice fire!

I dropped the E30 engine off to a very nice chap in Wales (16th country visited for 2015 [emoji4] ) for some work. Should be done in a week or two. This work will come to roughly £500, plus another £200-300 in parts (bearings, rockers, piston rings) + ~£300 on a cam shaft (not forgetting the original £250 for the engine). It adds up depressingly quickly, and around Christmas time too. I just hope the power increase is worth it!

Woulda been cheaper to throw in an M50/M52, but then, it doesn't look original, and there's nothing to say that won't be worn out either...

That's a whole lot of work!

I guess the good thing is your guaranteed a working, running engine by the end of it.

What sort of power you expecting once complete?

  5. Subframe came off. I started  cleaning it up but then got bored very quickly and decided it was easier to drop at the sandblasters.

24 hours and some primer later.... its back.

The 'After' picture I took turned out terrible so i'll get another!

    Easy to remove?

I've got free access to an engine crane now, so can make a start on my engine bay :)

4 bolts... Plus two for the engine mounts.

But that's after removing the steering rack, anti roll bar, and lower control arms.

I've stripped the whole lot to replace everything anyway so easy for me. Used the crane to take the weight of the engine.
