Driving to B & Q on Thursday, turned round right on a mini round about without indicating (forgot) and as I passed a car on the opposite side of the road he beeped at me and did the hand sign for w*****. I was confused after as I gave him plenty of time to go and didn't understand why he was going so mad because he had to wait a further second because I forgot to indicate. Then on Friday, I went to my car parked in the private car park (shared with the other residents) and noticed there was a piece of A4 on my windscreen which had been soaked in the rain earlier. Picked it up and it read "NEXT TIME YOU GO RACING UP SOMEONES AR5E MAKE SURE ITS NOT YOUR NEIGHBOUR YOU P***K FROM NO9" I thought this was a bit extrteme since I had only moved my car twice since moving there and hadn't had time to race up peoples ar5e's (which I don't do anyway as it annoys me). I said to my gf - "I never had any problems when I had my Polo, and now I'm being called allsorts for little things!" Then she said "maybe its because you drive a BMW?" "I mean your the only one in this carpark (at B&Q) who is taking up two spaces, yet that £60000 Jag is parked inbetween others." I said "yeah but he obviously doesn't love his car as much as I do and anyway he would soon change his ways once she gets a nice dent or scratch on his door." Went into B&Q, came out and this bit made my day - parked in the row directly behind me was a silver facelift E46 coupe taking up two spaces aswell! I thought finally someone on my wavelength! Sam_Burns Posted October 12, 2009 Report Share Posted October 12, 2009 My neighbour opposite has a munter of a Mrs and is an Audi driver.....when i moved in to our 3 bed house with my mrs and our boy, he looked at me like a piece of sh*t from day one as I am obviously about 15 years younger than him with a nicer house and a nicer car.... Constantly checking his S reg Audi A4 for scratches and knocking over all the time moaning about parking...even though i have a drive big enough for 3 cars to fit on.... Its jelousy mate. Middle age men who can only afford crap cars and fugly women. Thats not a bad thing for middle aged men as i will be one in no time...im talking middle age men who look at you thinking...."why havnt i got one of them?"..... J Dub Posted October 12, 2009 Report Share Posted October 12, 2009 I have to say my last car was a ford, I notice I seem to get more people tail gate me now and the like, yet also seem to get a few more let me out of junctions. I am sorry to say that I think that when you have a BMW you are branded as arogant and so on by many, often thats by people who are jealous. Owning an E46 is far from exclusive, their are heaps on the road, yet people still frown upon it for some reason from what I see. But all is not loast as I think the Audi is now taking the place slowly of the BMW of being the pain in the arse driver. It was once when I looked in my mirrow and it was a BMW tail gating me in my old trusty ford, then it became the audi driver and still seems to be. Bottom line, I think if you car stands out a little no matter wat it is be a BMW or a skyline or something else, you will always have the 'look at that t**t' and stand out a little more, thus subject to peoples frustrations a little more. Yet part of the reason I like my car to shine and look good is so its different and stands out, cant have it all ways, as I am sure for every idiot that is like that there are several others who say 'look at that, its nice' Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I have realised most if it is jealousy - they see a young guy dirivng a nice BMW convertible and they cant handle it. It can only be envy, because I dont drive like a pr*ck... I care too much about my car (and mpg figures). And its not my fault they have chosen to spunk all their wages down the pub (or anywhere else) at the end of the month, and are still driving a mondeo at the age of 40. I understand that a lot of people are financially struggling and cant afford a nice car, I dont look down on them, so they shouldnt be jealous of me. SIMPLES. My dad does this in his s-class, but i always think that it will attract more attention, and I might come back to find a trolley wedged in my door/wing. M3BIMMER Posted October 12, 2009 Report Share Posted October 12, 2009 I get this even at my age, when you dirve down a road with on coming traffic you will get the ones in their car who are on their own and give what i call an admiring gaze / quick glance at my car as its an m3 and lets face it it stands out. But you also get the tossers who have a passenger and you see in the corner of your eye that one says something to the other and they have a little grin on their face so they obviously have said something about you or the car. But if you ever notice this which i am sure alot of you do look closer because the grin is actually a (you lucky b#sterd grin) in other words a jealousy grin if their is such a thing. I think i am making sense hear as its the best way i can describe it but for those its happened to then you know what i mean. Go park there! To be fair though, I never do it close to the entrance to where im going.. Always park as far away as I can to avoid people getting angry with me.. The only thing I noticed when I got my BMW was that people stopped giving way to me at junctions.. Thats about it! All it does is get you from one place to another. You could have bought 2 golfs for that money' etc.... etc...... J Dub Posted October 12, 2009 Report Share Posted October 12, 2009 On the parking front, I dont double bay it, I look for a place where there will only be one car beside, not near any route that maybe used as a foot path, find a car that is as well looked after or just take the GF's lil one and bundle into the parent and child bays as they in most cases are more than wide enough to open a door without contact. I have terrible issues at work as we currently have major building work goin on and limit spaces, people walking by on re-routed foot paths and so on, yet we now have a place round the corner in a secure fenced plot of MOD land we have a key for and can use bonus. Silver Streek Posted October 12, 2009 Report Share Posted October 12, 2009 The worst thing found is traveling on dual carrageways where I do most of my miles, you sometimes get people doing 60 in the outside lane, they see you are driving a BMW and just dont pull over. I always keep a respectable distance, as I know how annoying it is when idiots tail gate you and flash their lights at you, so it makes you want to keep blocking them. The last time it happened to me was some idiot in a C240 kompressor merc coupe. Kept going from 60 to 80 with no one infront of him. Just refused to move into the slow lane, even tho it was empty. Then he finally moved over, and as soon as I got along side planted his right foot. I have to admit I did the same and outpulled him, in my little 320d (with tuning box). My old run-around Golf got keyed, and I'm scared sh1tless of it happening to the BMW, so I'd never park over two bays for fear of pissing someone off and them getting the keys out. I usually park out of town and walk in, regardless of the extra time/cost it takes, or visit a large private car park and walk to the supermarkets - I never park anywhere where there are women with shopping trolleys. I get the opposite to this, admittadly i am one of them who do drive up asses ect SORRY but i am always in a hurry, anyway whenever i am on a carriageway or motorway and floor it the cars in front just move out of the way, its like when the sea parts in that bible story, (no i dont read the bible) But seriously people just move even my young son commented on the fact "DAD WHY DOES EVERYBODY MOVE OVER WHEN YOU DRIVE BEHIND THEM" so its not my imagination Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
