I always loved the shape of the 348 and HATED the Enzo, thought it was a FUGLY car.. Yes the proportions are a bit off but i'd be ok with that.. Whaddya think? momo Posted January 4, 2011 Author Report Share Posted January 4, 2011 I don't like most modern Ferraris simply because they're loading them with so much tech its unbelievable.. Like the F430 scuderia - with its trick e-diff an average Joe could get it around a track within like a sec of the top test drivers.. Yeah pretty cool but kinda devalues driving talent.. This looks like it has a few of the early electronic systems that they were developing for the enzo so all the best bits but a much prettier body! Gotta say though - if I had the dough, this would be the weekend toy and a 458 Italia would be my daily! Lol. That's a seriously nice motor.. I've never been a fan of Ferrari's but when I win the EuroMillions I'm really not sure whether to hit AM for a DB9 or Ferrari for an Italia. It used to be so clear cut! But this one, have you read the specs? Almost an 1991 F1 engine and looking in the car there doesn't seem any electronic safety switches. This is probably more hard core than the Enzo itself! I could be wrong here but was the Evoluzione actually a production car unlike this one off 348 Enzo hybrid? If I could choose a classic car to have super modern under pinnings it would be this without even blinking an eye. Utter stylistic perfection from every angle IMO. There was gossip Lamborgini would re-create it for the 21st Century, sadly that gossip went away. But they always say they look forwards, not backwards. It's destroyed the lines of the original car whether it was an Enzo or a 348, like some kind of mutant. Might as well stick a huge spoiler on the back for good measure. Is it actually a Ferrari test mule or did someone with a Toyota MR2 conversion kit get excited when he happened upon a crashed Enzo in a ditch? momo Posted January 5, 2011 Author Report Share Posted January 5, 2011 Yeah the Evoluzione was the basis for the F40's bodywork but I remember hearing they put the F40 engine in standard 288 GTO's (like the 348 above) to do engine testing. I could be wrong as I can't find anything on the t'interweb to back that up.. The Evoluzione was designed to be a race car but the FIA changed the rules which made it impossible to race in any category (Like the F50 GT) so Ferrari used it as a basis for the F40 road car. Suhail - thats the reason I like this car so much! Apart from the flappy paddles and a couple of switches on the dash (probably engine cut or something) it looks like it has no other gizmo's! UBER hard core! Looks like there's a little less over-hang at the front than the enzo, so I bet it handles quite well! If I had the money i'd be buying this in a heart beat! Although if I had it i'd be tempted to send it back to Ferrari and ask them to mould the rear arches into the bodywork properly as they're just stuck on at the moment.. However on the flipside - thats how Ferrari meant it to be! Is it really worth messing with their creation like that? Would it devalue the car?
