Cannockwolf
I need some help to mod my M3 cluster, i want to illuminate some yellow leds, so it goes from looking like this to this i imagine its just a case of jumping some wires from the live ones across to them but my soldering skills are so bad though i fear for what would be left after i did it so i wont do it but can be done without damaging the cluster? Wash
I reckon the only person who'll be able to help you here is Blair, he's a genius with instrument clusters

edber
id imagine it would be hard if it the cluster is not already yellowd out.

Sam
An I missing something? You want to rev the M less!?
Cannockwolf
It's a 330 so only goes up to 6500 just thought it would be an easy thing to do but make a little bit more sense
bungers
What about doing something similar to this: There must be a way of forcing them to come on at a lower range, either by software or by bridging the connections from the upper LED to the lower ones? Cannockwolf
I thought about bridging the bridging from the live ones, I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't damage the cluster putting a live feed to them, I can't see me being able to get the lights to act like an m3 though I can't see how it would be possible surely the coding for that is in the ecu not the cluster? bungers
I've though about my earlier post and bridging from the upper LEDs won't work as they'll only be illuminated because they're told to be via the rev count? It'll be possible to trick them into coming on at a lower revolution but its beyond me. Not sure what the forum in the description might hold though? mit
Are you trying to fit a M3 cluster to your regular car? Good luck with that...
Cannockwolf
I was on about bridging them from the ones that are lit so power would be pushed to the LEDs to make it look like my mockup, but would it damage the cluster doing that I haven't a clue on coding the thing although I am reading that forum now, can't find a user called hakentt though
Cannockwolf
Are you trying to fit a M3 cluster to your regular car? Good luck with that... I've done it, everything works fine, oil temp too and the clusters been programmed with my mileage with no tamper dot, I'm just looking into what can be done with the lights, although not important it doesn't hurt to look Wash and bry1990

bungers
Why would that be a problem mit? Cannock, but surely the upper ones only come on when the car is at a certain rev range (which probably differs between cold & warm engine)? You wouldn't get the power to the lower LEDs unless the car was cold surely?
Cannockwolf
No the cluster constantly only shows the two reds plus one yellow the rest are none responsive as I have a 330 lol, my car acts like the video above, only it doesn't do anything whe I rev higher, could be because my car won't rev that high of course but I presume it's through programming Edited June 6, 2013 by Cannockwolf

Cannockwolf
well after taking the cluster apart to fix the speedo, i took a look at the back of the circuit board and have decided theres no way im attempting this, i cant even make out where the backs of the leds are, far to risky, however i do have a speedo thats bang on the money now
