Carbon Schwarz Metallic M3

Recommended Posts

Thought I'd post a few shots of my latest purchase, my Carbon Schwarz Metallic M3.. I've spent so much time driving it and not enough washing so once I've done that I'll put some detailed shots up :)

55K with FSH

3 previous owners

Came with 12 month MOT for which it only needed 4 tyres. The previous owner had 4 continental sports put on at a cost of nearly £900 to get the new ticket.

6 speed manual

Black leather

Xenons

No rust! Anywhere! All the arches are perfect, boot lid, sills, everywhere absolutely perfect. I was told it has always been a summer car which would help back up the mileage. Still haven't found any scratches either just a few (very very few) stone chips.

It didn't have a few of the options I wanted but I couldn't pass on the condition and history/mileage! All the ones with the toys I wanted had mega mileage which I really didn't want. Previous owner put 3k on it in 2 years, so after travelling the length and breadth of the country I ended up with this one only 20 mile from me.

Anyway, few random shots I have and more to follow once I have gave it a good going over :)

Plans are get private plate put on and possibly Andrive/dynavin fitted.

Toyed with the thought of lowering but as Mit often says, BMW spent years and millions of £££ on the current setup so why dabble with it?!

I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank Gaz for all of his advice via PM, I really appreciate it and wouldn't have viewed half as many without it.

If I was after an m3 gaz would be the first person I'd message as well lol.

Awww shucks  Cheers guys!

The car looks amazing! The engine bay looks pristine as well. Really glad you managed to find one you were happy with. I know you were very choosey with the condition and it looks like it paid off

Looks to be in very good nick for its age, the state of the lights & the seats to me would verify the mileage. Missing quite a few toys though for an M3, nav BT, heated seats, 19's?

Guess most of that can be sorted if required for little outlay though if required. Nice to find a low miler!

They're meant to ride a lot nicer on the 18's for the 19's. 19's for show, 18's for go :)

Wow well done mate

Bet you wish you'd kept the eonon now haha

Haha I was dubious about selling in the first place but thought I'd be e46less for a lot longer than I was

Looks tidy :)

Absolutely! I know Gaz carried out a lot of research himself for his own M3 so was by far my first choice for advice :)

Thanks Gaz, top man! :) I hope I haven't just opened up your inbox to a load of random messages :o

I did want lots of toys but at the end of the day that's all they are, just toys. Engine and condition need to come first! I've had quite a few e46 with heated seats and a few without and cant really say I used it all that often, although it is a nice touch. Nav BT I always knew would be an easy fix with Andrive or similar and 19s I believe were only standard on later ones? I'm happy with the 18s although I would consider some 19s for the right price :)

Thanks for all the other comments everyone, I appreciate them

So I haven't really bothered doing a build thread as I've only done a few subtle mods, nothing major.

Owned the car for 18 months now and it's now almost up to 64k, so almost 9k in the 18 month of ownership. Maintenance wise in that time, it has had new rear discs, pads, handbrake shoes and cable. Fronts are ok for the foreseeable. It has also had an oil and filter service and an inspection 2 over the period of 18 month too.

The more eagle eyed of you may notice I've put spacers on 15mm front and 12mm rear, lowered it 20mm front and 10mm rear with eibach pro kit due to one broken front and one broken rear spring.

I've also fitted LED rears. Not noticeable from the pics but I also fitted a new M5 illuminated knob to replace the awkward worn original. It also has an eonon fitted but that's coming out when I change the brushed aluminium trim for carbon black. I've got a shortened numberplate mount to go on the front at some point as well.

Today I had my mate around who details for fun to give the car a winter clean as it's coming off the road at the end of the month. The state of it was shocking to say the least! He did a fantastic job as always (the old black plates are his for his detailing pics) and I actually mucked in as well to pick up some tips.

6 hours but worth it!

I did hoover out the interior too, but I'm going to remove the seats while it's off the road over winter and do a leather restore using the kitchen table to sit them on. I'll do the door cards indoors too and while they're off pop the carbon trim on there too. Then I'll get the parcel shelf out too and redo that black as its completely faded, although I've heard it's a pig to get out? Then shampoo the carpet and refit the interior. Also need to get rid of the egg yolk look and renew the side indicators.

Also, desperate to get the driveway laid now as my knees are killing me, I thought roofing was hard on them but that hardcore base is a killer!

Thanks for looking!
