330d Ben
Hi, I need a set of these or even a set of full injectors for my 330d Race Car project. Anybody any clues as to where I'd get them? I am finding listings on ebay for 535d injectors but when I run the part number I am finding that they are in fact 218bhp M57N injectors instead. Can anyone confirm that the 535d Injectors are different to the standard 218bhp units? My car is an older 184 unit with a hybrid E60 turbo/ FMIC, Straight through exhaust, Stage 3 Clutch, Single Mass Flywheel etc. I plan on using the 35d injectors and am aiming for north of 300bhp. Thanks Ben
momo
218bhp? Did they make a 218bhp model? Or do you mean the 204bhp 330d.. As far as I know they are different but can't confirm it. Do you have a build thread? Love to follow the progress you're making on it. 330d race car sounds v.interesting! Just don't make a splitter from plywood! lol pp4811
330d Ben
I don't have a build thread as of yet but I put up a few photos in the E46 Photo Zone section - sorry the laptop isn't letting me copy and paste. When I meant 218bhp I was talking about the 204 engine, IIRC they are the same M57N as opposed to the M57 I've got now. In hindsight I would have held out for a later car but too late now! The car is immense fun. It is the only diesel hillclimb car competing in the Irish circuit and as far as I know in the UK as well. Its not hugely competitive, my class is full of M3 engined cars/ a V10 E30 and a 450bhp EG Civic. I mainly built this as an advertising tool for my DPF Reconditioning Business and to have something different - I am a big diesel fan!
momo
Good man! Not enough diesel cars in motorsports I think.. You only need to look at the LeMans cars to realise the benefits they have - especially in endurance racing. Hillclimbs though - not so sure.. Deffo look to be different. 330d injector (for 204bhp model) http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/13537794334/ 535d injector http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/13537793030/ They have different part numbers too. One option is to get them rebuilt to 535d specs. IIRC the injector units are the same but the 535d somehow allows a higher flow rate so I think the nozzle might be bigger (sorry, don't know them in enough detail). But there used to be a guy in Southampton who used to advertise the service on eBay. He would take your 330d injector and fit 535d parts on them to make them 535d spec injectors. He's since stopped advertising but I think if he can do it - surely any specialist injector re-manufacturer could do it?
F07GT Steve
I hope this helpsE60 530d INJECTOR13 53 7 809 193E60 535D INJECTOR13 53 7 793 030ITS NOT SO MUCH THE SIZE OF THE INJECTOR AS THEY ARE THE SAME, ITS THE SIZE OF THE HOLE IN THE END.I am thinking of replacing my 530d e60 injectors with some from a 535d,But the e46 330d with a couple of tuning mods can be mapped above the 320bhp mark with out changing the injectors, if its live mapped the fuel flow can be increased if the tuner knows what he is doing. My e60 530d has been mapped to 289bhp, they could have taken it above the 300 mark but i wanted it to be sensable, and did not want to go over 290bhp.........Just to give you an ideae60 530 standered 232Mods before mapping - remove DPF and CAT, straight through custom twin exit exhaust, pipercross air filter - car was stuck on a rolling road and read 252bhp, then mapped and retested to 289bhp and 556lb torque Edited April 8, 2014 by ragtop steve
330d Ben
Thanks for the help guys. I have done a bit of research on this over the last few days and have heard from two separate and reliable sources that there isn't a whole pile of difference between the E60 218bhp Injectors and the E60 535d 272bhp ones, the 535d ones are better but for modifying an older M57 then the 530d 218 items are a worthwhile upgrade and probably 90% of the 535d items. One tuner reckons if I use the 218 items that he will easily take it past the 300bhp mark with the hybrid turbo and FMIC/Exhaust mods. I'm now in a bit of a pickle, I don't want to map the car with the 184 injectors in as I feel its a waste so do I pick up the locally available and much cheaper 218 items or try and hold out for the 535d items which may or may not be any better in the long run. 330d Ben
Incidentally Steve, is your car a 218bhp model or a 235bhp? I'm just wondering if it happened to be a 218bhp that put out more power than standard. I have an E60 218 that SWMBO drives and it really feels more than circa 220bhp but is not mapped. I also have an E70 X5 as a road car with the 235 lump and its fairly lethargic in comparison, I plan on fitting a hybrid turbo to that and doing a few supporting mods in time but its standard for now. Scottfreee3
The pre LCI 535d injectors William fit the M57 and M57n. However the bore is bigger on the LCI engine(same as 335d engine) which will not fit Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
