gfileshanna
Hi guys. I have another thread running elsewhere. I have used search BUT not really getting the answer. I'm looking for some m3 style mirrors, not m5 look.....they look like sad dogs ears, I know I CAN modify the base plates etc, on genuine but can't be bothered! In the past ST1 mirrors? Looked pretty good and MStyle have what I'm looking for but running to £300 with paint any suggestions? Nb Schnitzers aren't what I'm looking for. I'm looking to be build essentially an m look touring. I'd appreciate the help. Cheers! Giles
Rich_D
Sad dogs ears? They're basically the same size & shape... Are you sure you're not confusing some other mirrors as being M5 ones? Edited April 18, 2014 by Rich_D
gfileshanna
M5s are ovalish with a flatter base towards the a pillar with a thicker base. M3s are more oval with a slimmer stem. Left is non genuine. Edited April 18, 2014 by gfileshanna
mit
You'll have to modify the base plates of coupe ones.
Rich_D
Think you are being really picky personally, look at the photos I posted above of the 2 cars side-by-side, the mirrors look very similar and most people will not notice the difference. Brettyboy
Do the coupe 1's take much trimming to fit & is plug the same ?
budwab
A while ago there was a company in Australia that used the original M3 mirror moulds to produce mirrors for the saloon. I bought some back then, but never fitted them due to having to muck about getting the original motors to fit them. This thread has got me looking at them again I had them painted to match the Shadow Line finish of my car in TiAg....here's some pics.....
DonB
I remember them, they're a perfect replica. Definitely get them fitted...swapping over the motors is a piece of pi55. I had to do it for my ACS mirrors, not difficult. Also, for what its worth, the M3 (M5) reps look pretty bad when fitted, saloon local to me has them and they let the car down big time
