simonlpearce
That black connector looks like a generic earthing strap. There are loads of them all over the E36 so i would guess the E30 is similar. There should be a bit of threaded bar about half inch sticking out the chassis somewhere and that just pushes over it. I may be wrong though so worth double checking on an E30 forum. Good work though
Ashley1995
Well to say I'm F***ed off is an understatement, I know its no ones fault or anything, and i know these things are bound to happen with a older, lowered car, but it just gets on my nerves. it feels like problem after problem at the moment. Didn't even hit anything, so not quite sure how but i now have a sump with a nice hole in it Edited July 8, 2014 by Ashley1995
Chimp Choker
Oh dear. Might have been porous and just gave up. Happened to me a long time ago on a mk2 escort www.bobsbmw.co.uk
Paddybrown23
That isn't good mate. These things happen I guess, sent to test us and all that! Hope you get it sorted
simonlpearce
Could just be that the sump plug was over tightened causing it to eventually crack. Have seen it a number of time on BMW's. If it is the case you can have them welded by a decent welder.
Ashley1995
Well I've bought one of a member on e30 zone, he is posting it including next day delivery for £50. Ive also had a ECP delivery today of new Oil, gasket etc I can now do the work this weekend hopefully, And then the old sump if repairable i will get welded and keep as a spare. Ashley1995
Finally got the sump changed. Such a good feeling getting back in and being able to drive the car again. Have found however that my engine mounts are shagged, have borrowed one from the E46 to get me to work for a day or two until the new pair arrive. Also have ordered a new Steering Rack boot as mine has a split in. Changed the PAS belt for a whole £3! bargain for an OEM Quality part which stopped the horrid squeaking. Next on the list, Get the rest of the interior back together, and then start to tidy the engine bay, and then look for a new exhaust, I'm thinking scorpion at the moment...? Ashley1995
I did think of them, but i read a bad review and it put me off. It may be 1 in a 100 but...
Ashley1995
Going into RSR in Redhill near where i am after work, going to get the car in the air and quote for a custom one off exhaust system... Lovely Oh and by the way... Heres a sump picture
Ashley1995
Went over to RSR near me and they quoted £450 for a full stainless custom system, and i can pick any tips i want... hmm Other than that i have been tidying it up. I finally got a bit more of the interior together, changed the badges for new ones, changed the rear light seal as one was leaking and have removed the smoked tint from the headlights. Hoping to get interior finished and back together soon, also have new engine mounts to fit, and new steering rack boots as one has a split in so will do that and the ball joints at the same time. After that i want to tidy the engine bay up and finally go get some pictures with my DSLR and not just my iPhone! Also my old E46 under the cover in the back ground Edited July 22, 2014 by Ashley1995

TriggerFish
Looks miles better without the smoked lights too IMO. I'd also grab some non-wiper headlight rings too. I'd go for a pressed pair. I've a set under the sofa at home, and I'm sadly really excited about being able to fit them soon! Ashley1995
Ashley1995
What do we think on the yellow high beams? Also now got some new pressed plates on to The_Judge_, Rebel and L4nky808

TriggerFish
I think they'd look better with clear indicators, otherwise there's too much colour going on IMO. L4nky808

Ashley1995
I agree, i did like the square and wasn't sure how these would look but now they are on... they look much better. I went down to Lancing for a day at the beach Saturday, i followed a very clean and original looking e30 325 saloon. Got a thumbs up from the driver and the passenger even took some photos of mine Would like to find them somewhere on the internet!
das_flo
I think they look loads cleaner, if I was to be a pedant I'd say move it down so it can line up with the black trim. Any plans for an 'is splitter? Ashley1995

Yeah I am thinking about moving it down, it's inly now I realise it's not quite straight either so will sort that as well [emoji23] Yes, possibly an IS splitter, but it all comes down to money at the moment Edited July 28, 2014 by Ashley1995
