Ashley1995
As some of you may know my E46 suffered death by subframe corrosion. Well today I went to look at a new motor, it's not an E46 but I love it. mit
This is cool! Apart from the way it looks like they've fitted tyres that are too small to accommodate lowering the car! Always had a soft spot for these - miss my old one Ashley1995

Ashley1995
I do like the RC's there the style i would go for, but the Schmidts are goring on me now so they may stay for a while. Got a couple of small issues sorted out yesterday, The guy before me had wired in the stereo in badly so pulled this all out and started again. Gave her a clean, nothing special as i will do this closer to the weekend ready for DC14. Will get some more pictures at some point too. Ashley1995
Had a good weekend and got a little bit of attention up at Silverstone for DC14. Friday i changed the candles for new HIDs and disabled the 'Dim-Dip' feature by removing the resistors. I've also had a new Heater Matrix turn up i bought from Euros, this means i need to tackle taking the dashboard out at some point soon. Also the electric ariel does not go up and down, Signal wise its fine, just will not raise and lower as it should... so have this to look into. Couple of pictures from this weekend.. Ashley1995
Not a lot happening at the moment mostly just keeping it clean. Did have two new rears tyres yesterday, at £124 for two tyres/fitting/balancing it wasn't bad at all. I was paying more than that per tyre on the 46! Other than that I have bought a new power steering belt to stop the squeaking, and a couple of bits that are slowly disintegrating on mine like the air intake hose. Anyway here's a picture I found on E30 zone of mine at DC14 Sent using Tapatalk Rebel
momo
Very nice car! What engine is it? Are they genuine Schmidts? Those are the wheels you can curb the f*ck out of and won't get damaged IIRC? lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCi3WM0S95o

Ashley1995
And so it begins... I have started stripping out the interior ready for the weekend when i plan to: fit the new alarm, sort some wiring issues, wire in new speakers and a new amp, clean the carpets and replace the heater matrix. Pictures below, but first... i wondered why my headlight tilt wasn't working, well i found out why. Someone has cut the connections behind it, another thing to add to the list to sort. Any ideas? Also anyone know what this does, i found it disconnected behind the drivers side dash below the headlight switch Rebel
TriggerFish
Tilt system is meant to be terrible, so maybe removed to allow manual adjustment. Nothing like that connecter under my dash. I'd say aftermarket? Where does it run too?

Hmm, not sure yet started to get dark before i had a proper look. seems to go up and then back, towards the front of the car.
Ashley1995
What an exhausting weekend. I wasn't expecting it to be a 5 minute job but a 3 whole days non stop and its still not all complete. On the plus side, i was expecting to find big old rust holes under the carpet but i was really surprised at how clean it was underneath. There were two holes which have clearly been cut and welded with new plates. but other than that nothing to see really. Everything came apart and out fairly easily, and after finally swapping the heater matrix it was fairly obvious the Heater Control Valve had died too. Luckily to change this its not as much work. I then found somebody had bypassed the heater matrix altogether so i have left it like this until i get a part sourced. Installing the alarm was hard work, routing the cable wasn't so hard, it was understanding the instructions that was tricky. although all installed and the alarm works, every time i lock the doors they unlock themselves again straight away, so something not quite right there. While the interior was out i ran new audio cables to the boot for my audio install when i get around to doing that. The passenger seat, glovebox, centre console and other bits are not back in yet but it is drivable. Pictures to follow!
Ashley1995
Haven't got any pictures of how it looked once i had cleaned up in the corners and tidied the cabling, but you get the idea Edited July 7, 2014 by Ashley1995 Rebel
