Ash's 325 E30 - Restoration

Looking great! What did you use on the pipes?

I think a set of red MHW tails would really suit this!

Just some autosol metal polish, not seen those. Will have to have a search

I'll have to grab some of that polish, looks like it works really well. Condition of the paint is amazing too.

MHW are/were a brand that made tinted OEM tail-lights. They're bloody rare as they were only made for a couple of years and not many people bought them but (I think) they look great.

Ash mate, looking forward to seeing the car again and the progress you made!! its so clean and id expect you to pick up a few more awards this year mate!

one tiny bit of advice from me is, if you still have that heatshield then i would remove it. I had one on mine thinking it would be effective but it attracts heat, once i removed it i watched the intake temp drop quite a bit on inpa. A carbon fibre one, whichh you can get from america would be more effective but not sure how that would suit your engine if you know what i mean or a nice cold air feed would help.

Interesting, maybe worth taking that off then. To be honest its more of a noise/looks thing than it is for performance but I was planning to add a cold air feed at some point.

I have no choice but to run a open filter on mine unless I pay ac schnitzer a lot of money for a new air box, so that's why I tried the heat shield you had but that material will just attract heat and inpa proved it for me...so I'm gonna look at getting the same style but made in carbon fibre but at the moment I've just got loads of cold air blasting at the filter and it seems spot on

Followed a mint 325 into my village, he stopped, so I got out and talked to him. 7k he spent a few years ago, it was immaculate!

Even whipped out a photo journal of it he keeps as so many people ask him about it. Wouldn't sell it :(

I'm not sure if that's really cool, or really sad!

Saw this again at InCarNations, and it's still looking good - seeing one in the flesh is a good motivator :)

Here's a shameless photo whore from Brighton too

So since Brighton and finding the snapped handbrake spring, I changed the hand brake shoes, springs and fittings to new on both sides.

I've also sanded and re-sprayed my front grill and kidneys as they had become stone chipped. Amazing what a difference some fresh paint can make. As always i've been keeping it clean and topped up with fluids.

And I've bought the following;

Copper Brake Lines, to add to the collection of parts for the brake refurb this year

Genuine second hand foglights, one has a cracked front but got them for £35 which I found was a fairly good price,

Gear and handbrake gaitors to match my retrimmed wheel,

Some more yellow tint film, potentially going to do the foglights to match the high beams

Even more cleaning stuff!

I'm tempted to throw the pile of brake parts I have at a garage 'With probably what will be a large sum of cash!' and get them to the whole lot rather than doing it myself. I'm confident doing it all apart from the brake lines but might just be easier getting them to do the lot.

Anyway some photo whoreing!

Went down to Players Classic at GoodWood this weekend. Weather looked a little glum in the morning but brightened up nicely for the day. Was a good drive down met up with about 10 other cars including 2 on trailers. Some great country lanes on the way down.

Saw your car DJ-SYXX, but unfortunately didn't get to meet you. I wasn't in the top 'Meguier's Show n Shine' which is held in the track paddock but did get into the 'Airlift Showcase' which fills a car park out the front. But upon arrival I did get picked for 'Upgraded Parking' which basically means I parked up on the grass verges at the side of the track so that was cool.

I Spent the whole of Friday afternoon/evening giving the car a clean so excuse the photo whore-ing!

Not updated this in a little while. Took the old girl out for drive last week, really miss that straight six, raspy noise.

Today I pulled the power aerial out as it's never worked since I've had the car. It didn't take long to work out why!

Unfortunately after cleaning it out and testing the motor straight on a battery it still wouldn't work. The motor won't even spin up.

Was worth a shot, it's no worse condition than before. Will probably have to source another.
