warcake
Hi, have had a dynavin in my 330 coupe since the beginning of the year and I didnt realise it had a PDC function. Does this need to be wired up for the headunit to display the PDC, or should it just work? All steering wheel controls etc and OBD stuff works so I know its connected. Even with the setting changed to PDC it doesn't display anything when i put it in reverse. Any help would be appreciated chaps!
e46 330ci vert
if you fit a rear camera it will work
Chimp Choker
Also depending on which model dynavin and if switched on in the setup menu, it may also give a visual reference of which sensor is beeping on the rear bumper www.bobsbmw.co.uk
warcake
I explained that badly. Nothing happens when i select reverse even though PDC is switched on in the setup menu. Does the reverse wire for the camera need to be wired up for it to know it in reverse?
Cannockwolf
keep an eye on this buddy, ive asked the same question here and this bloke knows eveything http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showpost.php?p=16374028&postcount=196 Edited October 20, 2014 by Cannockwolf
Cannockwolf
Yes, so if your car has PDC you need to connect the reverse wire to the reverse light circuit (same as a camera install) and then change the reverse setting in the system settings menu to PDC (or PDC+Cam if you have a camera). Cannockwolf
its the green wire you need to connect to on an N6, not sure on yours Edited October 20, 2014 by Cannockwolf
warcake
Alright got the green wire connected, and it switches to the pdc view in reverse, but I get no visual indicator of the PDC sensors on the display. Still beeps etc from the speakers I just don't get the visuals. Any ideas?

warcake
Well that's a bit strange as there is a PDC option in the dynavin unit, and it shows the pic of the car on the screen just not what the sensors are seeing!

In that case im out of ideas - have you tapped into the right wire? Surely you would tap into the PDC control unit and not into the reverse live? Common sense would say the reverse live has two readings (on/off - hence your reverse lights coming on/off) whereas the PDC control unit will give variable readings based on the individual sensor outputs? warcake
Right took the dynavin unit out of the dash, there's a green wire on the ibus box for the dynavin labeled PDC and its not connected to anything...

Cannockwolf
To test it would'nt a 12v battery work as a trigger?
warcake
Yeah I tried that today, put 12v to the reverse wire in the boot, and tried putting 12v to the PDC wire in the dash. It'll switch to PDC mode but the sensors don't display anything. I might just live with it unless its an easy fix.

Konrad23456
Hi lads, sorry for digging out this thread but I recently have bought Dynavin head unit and struggling with PDC screen trigger connection. I am not using aftermarket camera, I just would like to make the OEM parking sensors showing the range on the screen. In this case do I need to connect the green wire (trigger from reverse light)? When I put gear on reverse the PDC screen does not show up. I will appreciate any suggestion as I have searched all over google and couldn't find an answer on which wire is responsible for PDC display without camera.
