E60 m5 amg autobox

Even if it would fit on can you imagine the amount of work it would take to get it working properly. Rather you and your wallet than me and mine lol

It would probably be easier to buy a rear end damaged m5 and transplant the whole drive train and ECUs etc

I'm just thinking outside the box ,I need an auto box as my left knee is shot ,am at the limit on my autobox power and torq,my ess set up can make a load more power but need stronger box so looking about ,possibly putting sequential in ".".eny thoughts welcome,I'm keeping this car so don't mind investing in getting it how I want it,within reason lol.

E46 M3 SMG would be an easier swap surely ?

Yes but why would you bother with one when it will break 2 weeks after you fit it leaving you with a £2k bill ^_^ .

I think you might be better off speaking with a specialist and seeing of there is a way they can make your current box more robust. :thumbsup:

Quaife might be able to help you out with uprated gearbox internals?

Clearly you would fix all the common problems before fitting it

The torque will probably kill the box after a while anyway.

Even if you could get it to physically fit, getting it to work would be a challenge as well.

A later 6 speed ZF auto box from an E9X or E60 would probably be cheaper & easier then the SMG box from the M5, they can take a lot more power than the crappy GM auto boxes in the E46

Quaiffe can't help with auto box,unless I go Manuel with electric clutch,speaking to birds Monday as there fitting quaiffe diff, there was a company in the states that did an upgrade on auto box so you can run 380 bhp but not found out what they did yet.ive had filters and oil changed on box when ess blower was fitted.

I want to run around the 400 ,and the e46 amg can be made to behave lol

Ess told me that the twin scroll is caperble of 500 bhp which would be nice ha ha what else would break at that power who knows
