TriggerFish
Sounds exactly how I'd spec one too (although I'd want lumbar support too) I imagine the LED headlamps will be great too. Bet end of June can't come soon enough. The extended interior lighting is such a nice touch too.
Ashley1995
There's a few more bits I would have liked but the price would just go up and up! Yeah includes the little lights in the door handles! Love that little touch. I can't wait, that new car smell will be amazing. Alix
Go take a Fiesta ST out for a test drive mate, it's stupidly fun and im getting 30-40mpg. It's only £180 a month too, costing around the same as my old 330 as all i have to pay for is petrol and insurance P.S It would walk all over a 118 in every department too lol. Didn't see you've already ordered, enjoy it mate, will be nice driving around knowing if anything goes wrong its covered lol. [emoji14] I am a Ford man at heart, but for me at almost 30 I couldn't justify owning a car that 20 year olds can now easily own. I am very close to selling my 330cd as I now longer do many miles. If I do sell it I will be getting a 5 pot St-3 and modding to 300 bhp. The biggest problem with a 330d is finding a replacement which will be satisfying without paying an arm and a leg! Straight6 josh
Fair play to you Ash, iv debated getting a new bmw on finance/lease but never gone through with it. Wasnt really enough of a reason for me to get one, my 330 is more than fine as a daily (bar when i encounter speedbumps) but i can see why you have in your position. keeping old cars alive and well is an expensive do, spent litterally ££££'s on my old Mini i had before my 330 ! unfortunatly at that time i couldnt afford to own and run 2 cars Would be great to have a nice e30 for weekends and sunny days, then a modern everyday bmw for daily use Ashley1995

bennno2005
I've gone for PCP as I like the idea of owning the car. Yes it's a little more expensive but I think it still works out cheaper than running the e30 full time. Back on topic....I'm really surprised by this - I just can't see how it can work out cheaper. Can you show us how you've worked this out? I'm just genuinely curious! Call me mad but the way I see it, your only young once and if an opportunity comes along it should be grabbed I will call you mad - personally I wouldn't call an opportunity to rent a diesel hatch back a particularly exciting or unusual one. Having said that the interior shot does look nice. At the end of the day opinions are like arseholes so if its what you want then I hope it works out for you! The calculations are all just rough estimates in my head, The fact that is has free Road Tax, no MOT for 3 years, 5 Years free servicing, and does 55/60mpg makes up for mine that costs over £200 a year tax, then add on MOT and Service costs. does just 20mpg and costs me over £250 a month just on fuel with the miles I do. and then maintenance/restoration costs on top of that. (I'm not including insurance because im hoping to run both until the winter when the E30 wont be insured while I pull the engine out etc) but for arguments sake insurance is cheaper too. so I think all together it works out fairly similar, plus it will be nice to not have to worry about it breaking down, or over heating and have the comfort of air con and that is worth ££ itself. bennno2005
You don't own the car with PCP until you pay the lump sum at the end of the deal (which is always the same as the cars value at that point in time - that's how the deals are designed) I think if you actually sit down and work it out properly you will still be out of pocket. (Bear in mind tyres, brakes etc will be more expensive on the E30) You need to differentiate restoration costs and running costs as you'll no doubt be restoring it with the new car. Ashley1995
Well you are always going to be out of pocket running any car? Whether its brand new, second hand, done 10,000 miles or 200,000, there will always be running costs. Like I've said before I've not got one specifically because its cheaper, if that was the case I wouldn't be keeping the E30, the point is to have another, reliable, daily car to use so I can keep the E30 as a weekend/project car. Like anyone, if I couldn't afford it I wouldn't be doing it. Edited May 28, 2015 by Ashley1995

I've not got a problem with you leasing a car nor am I suggesting you can't afford it...nor am I telling you what to do. What I am doing is stating that the posts you are making about it being cheaper aren't correct.
Alix
You couldn't get away from a 1.6 180bhp car? It's actually stated as 180hp due to eu emissions etc (I think?) but they actually have 200hp with overboost and a better power to weight ratio than a 330. The 330 has it in a straight but theres no contest if any corners are involved.

Kermitthefrog
Just my thought....lease and PCP are for those who either enjoy the comfort in knowing that their car has not been thrashed by a previous owner, or people who are materialistic and love the show and tell of a brand new car on their drive that realistically they can't afford. For me the best solution is buying a car that has reached it's peak in depreciation and reap the benefits. For me it's madness forking out £300+ per month for a decent performance car when you will eventually give it back and get nothing in return. My 330cd for example was bought 2.5 years ago for 7k. I will still fetch 5k for it when i sell it within the next 6 months. Doing the maths you will see that the monthly cost is very low, I have 260bhp and serious torque whilst maintaining excellent mpg for the performance. I have had rwd, reliability, and performance that will make most 2.0 turbo petrol cars nervous. I'm not sure where I'm going with this exactly, but i don't understand the fascination with spending so much money on something that depreciates so quickly. bennno2005
Pete320i
I'm on a pcp and it works out cheaper for me, my 320i was costing me 300 a month in fuel for work etc and it was 11 years old, I now pay 300 a month and that pays for my car and my fuel and the car is only 1 year old, in 3 years time I get to change it for another car, the tax is only 30 a year and my insurance has dropped almost 150 too so in some circumstances it can work out better Edited May 29, 2015 by Pete320i Ashley1995

Assuming 55mpg (and thats being generous if you only get 30 in your 320i) in something more frugal that same 1800 miles will cost you £170. So unless you're PCP deal costs you less than £130 a month you've gone wrong somewhere. Plus I imagine doing 1800 - 2000 miles a month you'll get stung at the end when you come to hand back your car with above average mileage. Also worth mentioning there are plenty of 11 year old cars that will do over 50mpg so comparing like for like its just costing whatever it costs you a month to have a new car. Try as hard as you like but I don't think anyone can justify a lease / PCP from a purely financial point of view. Pete320i
I have done my sums right, driving through Birmingham every day in peak traffic was calculated between 20-23 mpg, I was spending 75 a week, my kia ceed diesel on same journey is doing between 39-44, I am spending around 37 a week plus my pcp is 153 I have halved my fuel bill, I should know because I pay for it, yes I have gone for a completely different car but for me it works, I don't need someone to tell me how to do my arithmetics.
