Ah, I had many love affairs with E30's.

The first was a 318i that was purchased blind on eBay for £300ish. Yes, the numberplate reflected it's condition! But, I drove it 40 miles each day for over a year and only had 1 problem, it overheated. Towed to a garage and a new stat, £100, fixed. The buyer was a young girl who had to sit forward to touch the pedals with the seat as much forward as possible!

We moved onto a tasty white 316i, fantastic car, and still had some go as it was so light. This was in good nick, bar a bit of arch rust. Someone did hit the back of me, the car ended up with 2 small holes in the bumper from the number plate screws from the hitter. I said £50 would get a new bumper, just write me a cheque and mail it, her bumper was hanging off. 2 hours later, I got a call from her insurance, they sent someone over and offered me £750 to 'let the problem go away'. I was chuffed. I also left the holes in the bumper!

Then we moved onto the iS. This lastest 3 weeks before the other half drove into the back of an other car. Her mothers. On fathers day. We only had 3rd party insurance. Sold it to a well known e30zone member for £350 as scrap. I had to drive it home light that in the dark with only rear lights, following a lit up car, only using 2nd and 4th gear, due to the gearbox being pushed back.

Which leaves the 2nd iS we had. This lasted 2 months before I sold it on, making £700 profit.

To reflect on pricing, the 1st iS was £1700, wasn't in best nick, and the second I think was £2400.

I would love to get a nice tech 1. I used to love the tech 2 at first but more I got in to the E30 world i started appreciating the chromies and tech1

same, I think I'd prefer a tech1 too! D'oh!

I think it happens to all e30 lovers, start off with a tech 2 then have a desire for a tech 1, a few people i know have said the same

Wow, thats a nice collection of E30s! Thanks for posting guys. That 316 looked good in white Sam! and I like the euro lights on yours Ashley1995. Great to see others cars. Looks like I might not need E30zone.net with all you E30 ex and current owners on here. Once I get mine on Saturday I'll get some pics up on here sharpish.

One small detail I'm curious about. Mine has a black surround around the rear plate. Having looked around on the internet I've seen some with and some without, all on the pre facelift chrome bumper cars. Any reason? I think mine was actually imported in '86. The car was produced in May 85 but not registered until May 86 and when I run a check with vehicle Checker it says 'imported'. Not important, just curious!

Cheers

Ben

I don't want to hijack your thread but here's a couple more pictures, the 323 was my favorite. In the photo with my old Alpina, check out how high the suspension is on the 323 - that's why it HAD to be lowered!! And then a picture of my 1990 325iSE which was a lovely dark blue.

Now telling myself I DON'T NEED ANOTHER E30!!!!!

You DO need one! Lovely collection of e30s. Alpina as well! Really like those. Not usually a fan of the pin striping but on e30s it looks cool. I think I'm going to love my 323i. !!

I now have it. Tatty but I love it! First things I need are a new auto gear knob and a set of clips that hold the rubber trim onto the rear bumber. Then going to get it checked over. Any e30 specialists in the south west London area?

And a trip computer (without screen bleed!) and cruise control. Someone had weird priorities at order!

Have you checked the VIN to see if they're original, or retrofitted?

Glad you all like it. I plan to keep it original. More of a cruiser! So auto box is fine (my e46 is manual so best of both). I have checked the vin and it's all original. It also has a rear roller blind. I understand air con and cruise also rare on e30s. As its one owner I plan to get in contact with the guy and ask a load of questions. Maybe even get some pics of it in the 80s! Hoping anyway, might just tell me to do one!

Been driving it around today. Love it!

Air con from the factory is rare, I think. Cruise less so, although still not common. I've got it, but it doesn't work :(

fingerscrossedhe iis helpful. I imagine he'll be pleased to see it in good hands tbh, and not skidding around Tesco with a welded diff

Didn't realise the check panel was a rare item.

Nice looking care though, I actually really like the brown interior. Will be a really nice example once you've got all those little bits sorted

Is the rear blind rare? See it in this image, through the reflection. A bit sticky, but still works.

I'm now on the hunt for the original radio, Bavaria C Business RDS. Anyone have one?
