incredirog
Anyone know how to remove this? or even better the whole window? I assume it is bonded. Anyway I was swapping the gloss black trim over and followed a DIY in the dark, which said the trim pops off, it did on one car, but the receiving car is a one piece rubber thing and I’ve F’d it. Need to remove the good one with the clips from the donor car and fit to new car! Thanks!
incredirog
haven’t been able to load TIS up yet to see if there’s anything on there. my research so far confirms that Chrome and Shadow line have clippy trims at the bottom of that window, and poverty trim is just a bit of rubber. I can’t find anything about removing the weather seal or the window on a touring although real OEM and eBay seem to show it’s one part, glass and seal. So my three options are, remove the glass from one car to the next, twice. Bonus here as it’s already tinted. Accidentally on purpose break the windows and insurance them with the correct seals twice. Repair the duff trim and bond the modified to fit over the rubber seal, shadow line trim on twice. What do you lot think? Edited December 12, 2020 by incredirog

incredirog
thanks schuey that’s how it should be!! and how it was on the parts car, unfortunately the 318 is a solid piece of rubber so I need to replace the whole unit, I appreciate you taking the time to post that though so thanks! Schumacher
Strange. It should be the same procedure for all models. 5:35 in: I can post how to remove/install the rear quarter glass, if needed?
incredirog
if you could mate that would be awesome, I’ve spent all day trying to get my TIS to work. love that guys YouTube channel, it was my reference for this particular job in fact, but alas Gloss black and Chrome trim have that rear quarter section removable, and basic matte trim that section is solid rubber, I know for certain as I’ve destroyed one side already 🤣
Schumacher
Yeah, I know him. Sreten loves a challenge, haha. Here you go: Edited December 13, 2020 by Schumacher
incredirog
that 7 series he did was lovely! right thanks for the instructions, but that’s not happening 🤣 even with the nifty depth knife tool it’s too much hassle! I’ve trimmed down the “accidentally removed” rubber seal, as it has an ‘embossed’ line on it which gives the appearance of being two separate parts like the chrome and gloss variants, I’ve sliced along this with a razor. Leaving me with a trim sized piece of rubber for the bin, and more importantly a piece of rubber the exact right size to space the trim out, and look like it should! Gonna bond it all together and hope for best! Thanks again for the help dude!

incredirog
in the spirit of not leaving threads unfinished for the next person searching here is how I did it with out removing the window. I surgically removed the lower trim with the clips with a scalpel and bonded it on to the recipient car. If your careful you can get the cuts to line up exactly, can’t say how good the seal will be but I backfilled the gap behind it with some silicone. It’s a bodge job, but done carefully it would be hard to spot

incredirog
hah!! I proudly stand by my problem solving skills! if that window ever breaks naturally though I’m obviously going to have to play dumb with the autoglass tech and say I bought it like that 🤣 Schumacher
