SamN
99% sure this is screaming scam, but... I advertised something of mine for sale and within half an hour or so I had an email: Hello there I will like to know if its up for sale?? There was a phone number at the end, missing a digit.. My reply: Hi,Yes it is up for sale, only placed the advert this afternoon. If you have any questions or would like to arrange a viewing, let me know. Regards, Sam Their reply: Hello sam I will like to know the lowest price and also will like to know the conditions. Regards Danella My reply: Danella, To be honest I don't want to drop much in price as I think this is a fair price considering the condition. It is in fantastic condition and has never caused me any problems whatsoever. With the money I have spent on this, it really is worth it! I have spend around £2000 on it within the last 9-10 months or so for the new wheels/suspension/exhaust etc. What sort of price were you thinking? I'd happily let it go with a full tank of fuel for good will! Regards, Sam Their reply: Hello Mate, Thanks for your swift response... Due to nature of my job i will not be able to come for inspection,am a very busy type as i work long hours everyday,i have gone through your advertisement with the pics and i am satisfied with it. I would have loved to talk to you on phone but i am a petroleum I work mainly offshore, our phone is down on the rig right now due to bad weather, we can only communicate with our base for now. your price is okay I have a private courier agent that will come for the pick up after the payment have been made ... So no shipping included.. My private courier agent will come for the pick up and sign all necessary documents on my behalf after the payment have been made, as they will also be coming with all the information needed, my details and transferring the name of ownership to me will be done by the pick up so you don't have to worry about that...You can now send me your PayPal email so i can pay in right away and also include your address in your reply. If you don't have a paypal account, you can easily set up one...log on to www.paypal.com and sign up. its very easy. I await your reply asap. Regards Danella Thoughts? lol...

Stooza
Just from the wording it smells of scam to me. It's as if english is not their first language, the grammar is awful! I reckon the " courier angent" will want to plug into your car with a laptop to check for error codes and nick your key codes.. and then nick the car later. Before this, the paypal payment will be disputed and withdrawn. Steer clear matey! Edited June 27, 2012 by Stooza

mjn
Can only communicate with their base, as their phones are down......yet they can get an e-mail to you??!!!? LOL, of course this is a scam, you get money in Paypal account, they collect car, you sign the V5 over to them, all good. Several days later, Paypal take the money back, as it was a fraud transaction.....you end up with no car AND no money.

stampers
I doubt they're even going to send a "courier angent" out to look at the car. They probably just want to get hold of your email address so that they can try and hack your PayPal/Bank Account/eBay or use it for other nefarious means, especially as they were plugging you to sign up in case you hadn't already. Steer clear. Or you could always bait the hell out of them... http://www.419eater.com/

Gaz
The scammer will be thousands of miles away, they don't want your address. I think they'd just send a fake paypal receipt and try and arrange for you to get your car in a shipping container.
tricky1
Thanks for your entry. I have today received the exact same wording in an email from danellabelly01@gmail.com offering to buy a car I have advertised. Sounded too good to be true and it obviously is.
