God knows whats happened to the droplink i didnt hit anything

Looks like you have the ARB mount facing outwards (towards the disc) from the chassis? They should be fitted more like so if im not mistaken? So in line with the disc if that makes sense.

Ah ok and is the ARB mount properly tight on the shock body to stop it spinning when you turn?

Also it looks like it been rubbing against the tyre as there is rubber all over the shock and the metal on the paint on the arb mount is worn through? It shouldn't get anywhere near the tyre at any point.

My money is on it coming loose at some point when turning and the wheel has caught it.

I've seen some great stuff about this, I think Gaz uses it so hopefully he'll be along with some feedback. I think application is key with the Ctechniq stuff.

Literally the best wheel sealant I've ever used. It's pricey, but when you only need to coat the wheel once very 6-12 months it's really not that bad. Even if I've not washed my front wheels for a month, all you have to do is show the wheel water and the dirt runs off :lol:

I think I may know what happened.

You can see that the strut is rotated. (the lug where the drop link attaches to is rotated and damaged the tyre).

That rotation can only come from 2 things imho:

1: the upper strut bearing is totally seized up: not likely as you would feel (and hear) that

2: the drop link is too long! I've also had this recently with installing a KW V3 coilover set. With most coilovers, the lug where the droplink attaches to sits lower than the stock lug. This is to get the rotating disc/spring stopper under the spring lower so you can get your car lower/use less spring pretention.

If that lug sits lower and the droplink stays original, the anti rollbar touches the lower control arm when the suspension/wheel is in fully dropped position. If that happens, the droplink will put massive force on that lug. That can rotate the strut in the screw housing (as the droplink sit under a slight angle), or it can break the balljoint (or both).

You can see it on this picture from my car:

Here you can see that the drop link thread sits about 8-10mm higher than the mounting hole.

If you compress the suspension, the thread from the link can get into the hole due to altering geometry, but with full droop the link is clearly too long. If it would be sitting in the hole, it would apply massive force on the lug (the force is equal to the spring pressure!)

I shortened the links myself about 15mm (but that amount will vary from set to set, with your set you can even lower the suspension in the bottem threads):

I did it myself because I had little time for the install, but you can buy droplinks that are adjustable with the same kind of construction.

So if your mechanic had tightened all the lock rings, I'm pretty sure this has happened. Be sure to check that when the suspension has full droop (on a car lift with both front wheels in the air), the anti rollbar doesn't touch the lower control arms when you install the drop links.

Full droop normally doesn't occur with normal driving, but you can get close with potholes or speedbumps.

got the replacement winter wheels today, look great, really happy with the colour, i think i would prefer them glossy tbh, can you get wheels clear coated???

The clearance for the BBK looks great on the front, loads of room in there
