Rich_D
In the past couple of days I have had 2 pm's from new users, the first with 1 post and now another with 0 posts I was under the impression that new users needed a certain number of forum posts (50 IIRC) before being allowed to send pm's to other forum users? When did the rule change?
Daz 330 Cs
I may be wrong but I thought Sam changed the limit from 50 to 10, unless he lowered it totally ?
B0B
It changed a few months ago, presumably for the for sale ads. I did mention it at the time as I had a couple of zero or low post count members pm me about the wings I had for sale. It's a good thing no? Less than 50 I agree with, but not 0 posts, as that's just open to abuse & scammers IMO. momo
B0B
Doesn't bother me, I have had no abuse in the months it has been like that, and I would have sold a set of wings to one guy with zero posts....if I hadn't already sold them
Rich_D
Seems fishy to me that 2 new users are PM'ing me about stuff for sale, I am wary
DJ Syxx
No difference between someone who has 100 posts or someone with 5. A scammer is a scammer. If you got someone interested in the item your selling don't see what the problem is?
Rich_D
It's a whole lot easier to just sign up (possibly with multiple accounts) and scam someone than it is if you need to make X number of posts first Yes people who really want to scam can and will still go through this, there is nothing you can do in that situation
keano
How can someone buying parts from you actually scam you? You get payment up front or cash on collection and then I'm not really sure how it ends other than you as the buyer with cash... If you don't get paid dont send the goods and sell to someone else... Just don't send parts until payment has been made in full and cleared Using PayPal youre covered or bank transfer then you've got the cash first, so tbh buying is more prone to scams than selling is IMHO. Just because someone has made 100 posts or something doesn't mean anything - I've been ripped off by a well respected member of a forum before but had great dealings with others who only joined just to buy parts advertised for sale by me... Post count means nothing IMHO. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Edited July 3, 2013 by keano ChalkyGirl, Blair and Cannockwolf
mjn
Good luck on the Paypal front! They're well known for taking cash back, once the correct owner of the hacked Paypal account finds out. I personally wouldn't accept payment via Paypal from a new user. Rich_D
Sam
It is set to 10, but only for 'members' for some reason. I've set it to 10 for every group we have. Rich_D

B0B
Surely though there is nothing stopping you having a personal rule not to sell something to people until they have a post count you are happy with? M3NXN and keano

I personally wouldn't accept payment via Paypal from a new user. So now people are hacking PayPal accounts to come on here to buy some wheels or something else for their e46? Crikey... doesn't this just come down to common sense now? If you think someone is a dodgy f**ker don't do business with them, simples. Otherwise perhaps cash or bank transfer. While we are at it, probably best not to use the phones to talk about the deal as they are probably tapped, oh and best stock up on tin foil hats so they cant read your mind too...
