sive s
Yes! Agreed! Jumping up and down on the standard BMW wrench usually works for me Tried doing that . Wont move. Few months ago I had the extended one and snapped it off. Lol. The bolt was too tight.
sive s
Yeah they take the piss . Pure laziness . But I will be getting a compressor generator soon. So will pay extra and get the torque gun with it. Need the compressor for respraying things. Good investment. Even my dad likes it as. He dont have to go to the petrol station to put air in( tire gauge ).
StuBeeDoo
Something which really irritates me . Is when you take your car to a garage. They put brakes on. And also by doing this they have to take the wheel and bolts off. The issue is when they put it back on the car. They always have a habit of over tightening it. So when it comes to takng the wheels off. I struggle to take the bolts. Even with me using all the force. End up having to go to a garage and asking them to make them lose. Which I have to pay to do this. Hassle and pisstake. Next time, i will ask them to hand tighten it. Rant of the week. Change your garage! Windy gun to remove wheel bolts. Wheel brace, then torque wrench (100nM on BMW alloys) to tighten. Edited August 28, 2014 by StuBeeDoo TOOM and sive s

Rob-
Parents of little future slags who let their 14 year old daughters hang round the local shops smoking ciggies wearing next to nothing. Obviously their fathers have walked out on them because I'd be 6ft under before my daughter walked round in public with her arse cheeks on show. Shameful. sag2, X-Man, StuBeeDoo and 1 other
Rob-
RE garages using correct torque settings; I understand some jobs need the exact torque but could you imagine if they had to look up the settings for every car they worked on? Not a lot would get done. I'd say they use their best judgement, which is good enough in most cases. marc l, L4nky808 and sive s

Overtightening wheel nuts/bolts is inexcusable. I would have thought that most, if not all, manufacturers specify a very similar setting for alloy wheels. For one thing, what is constant extreme pressure doing to the wheels.....?

Serves you right for being a chav and hanging out with the boy racers in the suped up clio and saxo's yo Back to the wheel nuts/bolts - none of you ever heard of a breaker bar. Paid £10 for mine and aside from a hub bolt there is nothing it cant undo sag2, StuBeeDoo and L4nky808

Overtightening wheel nuts/bolts is inexcusable. Of course it is, but you only tend to get cowboys in places like kwik fit and the likes doing things like using windy guns on wheel bolts. What I meant was, for example, if they used 130nm on every car wheel bolt that came in then that woulnt be the end of the world.
PoohBore
NATO Summit coming to an inappropriate hotel this week. I saw more police today going past the venue than I have in the last year. Massive fences to stop car bombs and lots of unmarked police vehicles everywhere. The nearby caerwent training base has a shed load of military vehicles in it although it doesn't start till Thursday, so it's only going to get worse. What a stupid venue, why don't they meet on an aircraft carrier in the middle of nowhere, the rest of us can then get on with our lives in peace. To top it all the kids go back to school Monday and then they will get 2 days off because of traffic congestion!
