Jay.
Hello.Just been to the dentist because i'm getting quite a bit of pain in my gums/teeth round the back of my mouth. Thought i needed fillings, but apparently - i am subconsiously grinding my teeth in my sleep & whilst awake sometimes (i've noticed it on the odd occasion) its worse when i first wake up obviously, but i'm seeing a dull ache most of the day now & its getting me down.I've seen on the internet you can get a gum sheild for it (sexy!) and there is CBT treatment for it to see if you can do it with mind power, both methods seem a bit s**t really, just wondered if anyone here has it & what they've done to deal with it?CheersJamie
Dee330Ci
Hi Jay, Not the answer you're looking for but grinding teeth is usually stress related. TRY to relax yourself/mind a few hours before bed, try not using booze to relax lol! Unfortunately it seems like "mind over matter" thing. You could always try weed to chill lmao! Either way hope you manage to sort it Dee Jay.
Jay.
Thanks for that Dee. I do have quite a stressful job & have a few personal issues which are constantly on my mind @ mo so might try a bit of the ol' ganja before bed timeCheers bud. Gaz
**Puts hand in air** Terribly dude. Recently gone down the mouthguard route. Taking a while to get used to it but my teeth feel loads better in the morning. I did try just a sports mouth guard but it was really uncomfortable so had to get my dentist to make a proper one. Definitely look in to getting one. It's better having to wear that whilst you sleep than having no teeth by the time you turn 40. I looked into other treatments but all the others seemed a bit 'woo woo'. Jay.
Jay.
Cheer s Gaz, I've just been on Amazon & you can get ones that mould to your teeth for around £6 delivered - they say to combat Bruxism - I will see how I get on with one of them Gaz
Gaz
Yes give it a go. For the sake of £6 you can't go wrong. The one from the dentist you'll be lucky to get change from £

das_flo
If they're grinding mate, how about having your gums rolled and having some more negative camber dialled into your wisdom teeth. ... oh wrong section. troublesome84
Go for the gum shield mate. They cost about a tenner and you can adjust them yourself - they will have a full instruction on it. You will just need to get used to sleeping with this in your mouth mate. Salim
Hi Jay, Not the answer you're looking for but grinding teeth is usually stress related. Either way hope you manage to sort it Dee I was actually grinding my teeth and only became aware I was when I read this thread lol. Weed doesn't really help, in fact it makes me grind them even more. Jay I wouldn't dismiss any form of treatment until I tried it. Unfortunately, in the West we are in the mindset that until a doctor gives us a magical pill to make the problem go away we won't be cured. Just punch yourself in the face every time you become aware that you are doing it - you will soon stop lol troublesome84 and CharlE46
StuBeeDoo
My first wife used to grind her teeth in her sleep. I don't recall it causing her and pain, though. IIRC she only did it when she was asleep.
TriggerFish
I had it for a while (along with several migraines a day), and each time it's been a problem is when I've been stressed (end of uni, my nan's health deteriorating). It's naturally abated itself as stress reduces, although I sometimes find myself clenching my teeth when resting my jaw.
