My new toy GT2 :-)

Recommended Posts

From wiki for ease:

The M3 Evolution Imola Individual was a limited-edition (200 units for Europe with part VIN WBACB5103-AN307--, 50 for the United Kingdom) car sometimes referred to as the M3 GT2. The engine and performance characteristics of the car were unchanged from the 1996+ euro M3, and a special exterior and interior colour combination was once again chosen by BMW; Imola red (405) paint with Nappa leather & Amaretto seats in Imola red and anthracite seats. It also included side airbags, the M3 GT Class II rear spoiler, front class II corner spoiler extensions, electric seats, and double-spoke polished alloy wheels.

Prior to the release of the Imola Individual there was a pre-production model made which was used as the basis of the special edition, it featured the Class II front and rear spoilers, special order Imola red Paint, special order Nappa + Anthracite Amaretta interior, SMG gearbox, GSM Phone Kit, headlamp washers and double-spoke polished alloy wheels.

This car is believed to be the car BMW used for the Imola individual advertising, though not officially confirmed. The car was professionally converted to a 6-speed manual in June 2010 when the SMG Gearbox failed.

The Escort I had and M3 I have now are not far off the same miles and condition and there is not much in the price. A low mile original Escort in factory condition would be worth double of mine... but then thr same price would be on the GT. Seen GTs sell for over £20,000.

The Escort was nice... but this does not break down :-)

Went to start but battery was dead. Put that on charge and checked the battery tray

Looks good to me.

Somehow managed to find a broken (brand new fog light) which appeared since my last visit to the car

I finally got the old girl on the road.

One tax disk, the last one this car will have due to the changes by DVLA

She started first time which was nice, drove her back to mine and had a look around the car. Everything looked in shape

A couple snaps of our BMWs before I cleaned the GT

And some after a clean and a drive. These photos are at Haynes Motor Museum just up the road from me. Spent a fortune tarting this place up, looks really good

And a couple videos of her being driven. Nothing crazy just getting her used to the road again

I can also report back the car drove spot on! Think I have a very slight sticking caliper but could not hear it by the end of my 25 mile trip. Seems to pull as you would expect, handles well and no knocks or bangs.

Got a few looks and some numpty in a Toyota Corolla with a dump valve try it on. I just laughed at the fool. All in all... a good day :)
