incredirog
So this has been in for a few weeks now, fuel system compatibility aside. It’s bloody dreadful isn’t it? My stated MPG dropped from high 29’s to mid 26’s I use it for London commuting outskirts to central and school runs, in a 318i I’m considering switching to super but last time I filled up with that pre E10 the car struggled to adapt and ran worse! I’m not in the market for distilling the ethanol out myself looks a bit too Darwin Award for me 🤣 Edited October 13, 2021 by incredirog secret
momo
Sorry, but diesel FTW!!! lol I still don't understand what's happened with the petrol tbh. Mainly because I only own diesel cars! Haha
dunk1
Can't say I've noticed any difference to be honest but I'm not really doing many miles in mine. I'm more concerned about the lack of use and phase separation taking place Super has 5% so is that really the answer Electric is the future 😕 Now I've sold my Range Rover I fInd my self looking at hybrids etc 😮
incredirog
I believe that phase separation is more of an issue with partially filled tanks as it’s the moisture content of air which causes it. how this impacts filling stations as petrol becomes less popular in the coming decade remains to be seen! they are absolutely ruining my hobby 🤣

My last fill up was 24 Sept and it's down to 1/2 tank in 3 weeks. Think I shall be switching to Super
dunk1
I was out yesterday evening and seeing as I was on 1/2 a tank I thought I'd fill up at Shell with V power but at £1.54 p litre is it really worth the extra over say Super unleaded at my local Tesco which is £1.42 p litre Edited October 15, 2021 by dunk1
dontpannic
My only petrol car has been off the road since before E10 came in, but even though she's not mapped for it I always run it on Super/V-Power/Momentum anyway so am unlikely to notice a difference between E5 and E10. Not so much for performance benefits but if the detergents in it do what they claim then a cleaner fuel system can't be a bad thing. E5 and E10 for those who are wondering is an 'up to' percentage - so a fuel which is E10 can have 'up to' 10% ethanol, and E5 'up to' 5% - it doesn't necessarily mean that they all do contain those amounts. It's highly area and retailer specific. I'm sure I read somewhere though that although classified as E5, Esso Synergy Premium actually contains no ethanol, and Shell V-Power only contains ethanol in certain areas. Think its almost on 1/2 tank so will fill up with super at Sainsbury's for £1.45 Shell v power from where i filled up last time is now £1.58 !! incredirog
I’m switching it up to super for the next few tanks to see if I can nudge the mpg up, will report back! dunk1
dontpannic
Just filled my Fiesta up with V-Power - £55. I remember when it used to cost me £40! dunk1

momo
I remember when my brother started driving in the late 90s it used to be 45.9p a litre. It was 70p a litre when I started in 2004. Crazy prices now! dunk1
martauto
My 325 2004 cab runs so much better on V-power or sainbury`s super (97 octane) and gives a better mpg as well. I dont know anyone who has a good word for E10 My E30 wont be going anywhere near the stuff. Mart.
incredirog
well I’ve run every tank as super since I posted and my obc MPG is saying 26.1 I did have a realisation that around that time I had to put my winters on as my summers were bald so I can’t say if it’s better mileage, or if it runs better, it’s a crap engine 🤷🏻♂️
