Phantom Mark
All things considered you really have to admit what an awesome motor the M54 is, my daily has 120k on the clock now and still pulls hard enough to put a smile on my face whilst delivering a reliable 30 to 32mpg average commuting to work and back down the lorry infested 22 mile journey to work, which means plenty of hammering past lots of sheeple who enjoy doing 40mph. Just returned from a quick trip to the Bilderburg protest in Watford doing a steady 70mph on cruise returning a healthy 36mpg average, not bad from a 12yr old motor I think. Anyway, just sharing my enjoyment of the M54.

e46rob
Having a 330d, I am not envious whatsoever of your mpg.....but not gonna lie if mine sounded like an m54 when on it, I wouldn't complain! Lewis330m
Its a nice smooth engine and makes a dreamy boomy nice note, but I am a bit bored with my 330ci M sport coupe now, its either save for an M3 or keep what I get and get an ESS or active supercharger kit from the US.... Cannockwolf
i get 24mpg with a LOT of short runs to cannock, its always impressed me how it does that even with my lead foot, though i reckon it'll drop to about 15mph soon LOL
TriggerFish
I'd be gutted if I paid all that money to only go 15 miles per hour!

Phatz
Agree with this, fantastic engine! I've had a month of my M54 now and although it's an auto, I still see 32MPG combined motorway and town. The more I use it and dare to open the taps, the more this will decrease though.

Rebel
No complaints here. Love my 330ci. Economy is excellent for what it is, sounds just right and I have always found it to match other modern machinery of similar spec, tractors included
cjohnson
I am not envious of your MPG, owning a 330d lol. 39mpg round town. 53mpg on a motorway run at 80mph. And still quite an animal when it needs to be! Good going though mate!
Schumacher
Did a trip to Watford over the weekend and averaged 42MPG. Usually I do very short journeys and average 27.5 with B-road blasts. Can't complain really.
Dazmania
Love mine, had it for nearly 8 years and it's just rocked over 175,000 and still brings a smile to my face. Motorway trips cruising at 70 mph, it returns 34mpg and in town roughly 20 - 22mpg I've started maintaining it myself now as it's not too bad to work on, INPA has paid for itself many times over and now just started coding using NCS I doubt I'll ever sell it
Slacky2k
Off topic but I here the bilderburg protest was a good turn out, wish I'd gone down, a lot of people opening there eyes now, David icke had a double page spread in the sun the other week, On topic I'm new to the bm world and I'm well happy with its mpg, compared to the 2.5 V6 I had b4, m54 is such a better developed engine
Phantom Mark
Off topic but I here the bilderburg protest was a good turn out, wish I'd gone down, a lot of people opening there eyes now. There was only a few hundred on the Thursday, but I fully expected that, sadly could not make Friday or Saturday, Thousands turned up on Saturday....... I think the more peoples purse strings are stretched the more people want to understand why, understanding geopolitics and how the world possibly works and how it directly affects you has to be of some interest to anyone who can be bothered to look into it. Fingers crossed more people open their eyes and take an interest, for the sake of everyone. Edited June 18, 2013 by Phantom Mark
